Sous Chef (Blue)
Sous Chef (Red)
Season 5 Contestant
Rewards Challenge: Gordon Ramsay took both teams to an Asian market and instructed them to pick out ingredients to use in three Asian fusion dishes-- one poultry dish, one seafood dish and one meat dish. Both teams were given 25 minutes for shopping and a budget of $100. They then had an hour in Hell's Kitchen to prepare their dishes.
Reward: The Red Team won this challenge, with two out of three dishes approved by Chef Ramsay and guest judge Tanya Steel of Epicurious.com. For winning, they were given a day packed with surprises with a big Asian influence. They got to witness Chef Ramsay and Jean Philippe in a sumo wrestling match, then participate in a little sumo themselves. They also enjoyed and learned about sake. Additionally, their dishes were featured on Epicurious.com and Paula's tuna dish was declared so good that it was placed on that evening's menu.
Punishment: The Blue Team was told to prepare homemade fortune cookies and then decorate the entire restaurant with origami.
Best of the Worst: With the dinner service declared a complete disaster, both teams were told that they lost. Giovanni, however, was singled out as the best on the Blue Team, with LA the best for the Red Team. They were each told to nominate one chef from their teams for elimination.
Nominees for Elimination: J was nominated for the Blue Team and Andrea for the Red Team, both because of their poor performance on meat.
Eliminated: Colleen. Chef Ramsay told both J and Andrea to get back in line and then eliminated Colleen because she had put in five bad services and he felt there was no place where she could cook well.
Robert: (after Tanya Steel chooses the Red Team as the winners) The ladies stick together man, no matter who the lady is. Y'all a brotherhood... sisterhood, some ****!
Chef Ramsay: There was no place in the kitchen I could put Colleen where she wasn't a disaster. It's time for her to go back to where she belongs, teaching, because she certainly can't cook.
Chef Ramsay: (to Colleen, after eliminating her) But I will say something. I love your tenacity.
Colleen: Thank you, Chef.
Chef Ramsay: You are strong.
J: This has definitely been my worst performance in my career.
Chef Ramsay: You're not wrong there.
Narrator: After a promising beginning, dinner service has ended in disaster and Chef Ramsay has a question for one of the chefs.
Chef Ramsay: Robert?
Robert: Yes, Chef?
Chef Ramsay: Why don't you look at me when I talk to you?
Robert: (who doesn't want to tell Chef Ramsay in public that he dislikes being called "Bobby") That's something I'd like to speak to you in private for, Chef.
Chef Ramsay: Later. Right now, I don't need any private **** from anybody.
Chef Ramsay: What are you doing?
Robert: I'm trying to do the best I can for you.
Chef Ramsay: Why are you so **** at me?! It's not about me, it's about you!
Robert: I refuse to put anything up there that you're gonna send back, Chef.
Chef Ramsay: Listen to me-- concentrate. Stop picking on me as an excuse, ****. That's not good enough. You can't trash all that.
Chef Ramsay: Risotto, please, let's go. Stop working in midair, Giovanni. It looks so stupid like this in midair all day. Come on, bozo! Giovanni?
Giovanni: Yes, Chef!
Chef Ramsay: Very nice, that risotto!
Giovanni: As much as Seth sucked, never once did he say that he was going home.
Lacey: I don't care!
Robert: (in an interview segment, regarding the Asian fusion challenge) Personally, I love fusion. That's how I get down. I'll make a gourmet meal out of Cap'n Crunch and ****ing filet mignon. I don't give a ****.
Andrea: (in an interview segment) Lacey is the Blues Brothers' problem now. The kitchen gods have answered my prayers.
