Episode Summary

EDIT

The teams participate in a challenge that requires them to roll dice to determine ingredients. One team makes seemingly poor selections but surprises everyone with an excellent dish. That team is sent on a private plane trip to Las Vegas, while the losing team is made to clean and prep both kitchens for service and take part in delivery day. At the service, one chef makes a return to the competition. The teams are presented with an additional challenge-- chef's tables. The service on the whole is mostly strong, but when one team flounders at the end, their service is shut down by Chef Ramsay. Named best of the worst, one chef is forced to make difficult choices for nomination, leading to the elimination of a seeming frontrunner.

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • At one point, when Suzanne makes a comment about girls using the derogatory term for "female dog." Closed-captioning on the original broadcast reads at this point "Girls are so catty."

      • Rewards Challenge: The two teams rolled dice with letters on them and had to name ingredients starting with those letters that were to complement each other in order to create a single entree. They then each had 30 minutes to create and prepare their entree. The Blue Team won this challenge, impressing Chef Ramsay with a dish created from an unusual combination of ingredients.

Reward: For winning, the Blue Team was sent to Las Vegas on a private plane. They then enjoyed a stylish welcome and spent the night, with a private jacuzzi and bar.

Punishment: For losing, the Red Team was made to clean and prep both kitchens for the next day's service. Additionally, it was delivery day and they had to stop what they were doing several times in order to pick up deliveries, one which came after 1 A.M. at night.

      • Nominees for Elimination: The Blue Team lost this service, as they were unable to complete a full service. Dave was picked as the best of the worst and was asked to nominate two chefs for elimination. He chose Robert saying that he had a weak service and he was concerned about his health problems. His second nominee was Van, based on the night's service. Ramsay had both step forward, but also asked Andy to step forward. After chastising Van for his performance, he asked him to step back in line. He then had both chefs state their case for why they shouldn't be eliminated, which resulting in a shouting and cursing match between the two.

Eliminated: Robert. Chef Ramsay stated that while Robert's plea to stay was entertaining, he's looking for a head chef and not a performer.

    • NOTES (1)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Chef Ramsay: Where's the lamb?
Andy: It's like Silence of the Lambs everywhere. Just slices of lamb here, here, here, here.
The Silence of the Lambs was a 1991 film, based on a novel, which depicted a psychopathic cannibal, Hannibal Lecter, aiding an FBI academy student named Clarice Starling.
