Episode Summary

An unusually structured episode first sees the conclusion of the conflict started in the previous episode. Chef Ramsay refuses to indulge Joseph's request for a fistfight and Joseph exits the program. Following this, another chef is eliminated. The remaining aspiring chefs head up to their dorms to rest, only to be woken up early in the morning by a fire drill. For the challenge, both teams are then made to serve a pasta dinner for a group of firefighters. The winning team is sent off for a day of spa luxury, while the losing team is made to stay and clean up the fire trucks and equipment, followed by the dining room. During the punishment, two chefs endure injuries that could seriously hinder their performance in Hell's Kitchen. The evening's dinner service sees two chefs becoming waiters, but one blows the job by taking 45 minutes for an order. Despite this, both teams put in their best performances yet, completing the service. In the end, two chefs from the losing team are put up for nomination, but receive a big surprise.

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • Two chefs from the Blue Team suffered injuries during the punishment. Dave slammed his hand in the door of a fire truck and ended up with a torn FCR ligament and a slight fracture of the wrist. Kevin rolled both of his ankles, ending up with a ligament stretch and a severe sprain.

      • Rewards Challenge: The aspiring chefs were awoken at 2:05 A.M. by the wailing sirens of fire engines. It turned out to be a fire drill. Following this, Chef Ramsay tested the teams' preparation and teamwork by having them serve a late night pasta meal to a group of hungry firefighters. They had to serve chicken alfredo, meatball marinara and a garlic bread appetizer. The winning team was the one that completed the service first.

Reward: The Red Team just barely won this service. For winning, they were sent in a helicopter for treatments at the Pacific Water Spa.

Punishment: The firefighters left behind some of their fire trucks and equipment and the Blue Team was made to clean it. Following this, they were made to clean up the dining room.

      • Following Tony's elimination, Robert was moved back from the Red Team to the Blue Team.

      • Nominees for Elimination (Opening): After Joseph threw off his jacket and quit the program, Chef Ramsay continued with the elimination. Lovely and Tennille had already been nominated for the Red Team & now Tony and Andy were officially nominated for the Blue Team.

        Eliminated (Opening): Tony

Nominees for Elimination (Closing): The Red Team lost the evening's dinner service. Ariel was named the best of the worst and asked to choose two members of the Red Team for elimination. Once again, Lovely and Tennille were chosen.

Eliminated (Closing): Neither. Both chefs were granted a reprieve, as Joseph had quit the program and therefore there was no need to eliminate another chef at the end of the program.

    • QUOTES (25)

      • Lovely: (after Ramsay berates her for taking too long to take an order) I got verbally spanked.

      • Jim: (as the ladies leave for their spa day) See you later. Don't be afraid to ask them to peel that hair off your upper lip, either!

      • Chef Ramsay: Lovely and Tennille may think they've just received a gift, but what I have in store for them tomorrow will have them running for the door.

      • (As the aspiring chefs head back to the dorms for the night, Ramsay gets in a parting shot at Amanda)
        Chef Ramsay: Amanda?
        Amanda: Yes, Chef?
        Chef Ramsay: Twelve threes?
Amanda: Nine, Chef. (The other chefs laugh)
        Chef Ramsay: Oh. my God.
Amanda: 36. (ding sound effect) 36. I'm sorry.

      • Chef Ramsay: Lovely, 45 minutes to get your ticket in. It was so painful. But I did see somebody who cared about their team tonight. Ariel.
        Ariel: Yes, Chef?
Chef Ramsay: You are the best of the worst. Clearly the most assertive, and for me the one that shone tonight. You've got a tough decision to make. Go back to the dorm and think hard about two individuals that you want to drop from your team.

      • Kevin: (in an interview segment) We had one ticket left. Robert forgot the salmon and then they caught us. Oh, just ****. Very angry. Very, very angry.

      • Chef Ramsay: Three times three is what?
        Amanda: Six, Chef.
Chef Ramsay: Six? Oh my God.
Amanda: Nine. I'm sorry! I'm not li-- God!

      • Chef Ramsay: Stop! What are you doing? What are you doing?
Tennille: There's too many people talking to me at one time and I'm just trying to do what you told me to do.

      • Tennille: (interview segment) Suzanne likes to hear herself talk!
Suzanne: There's too much oil in the pan.
Tennille: (interview segment) She needs somebody smack her in her face and tell her to shut the hell up.

      • Chef Ramsay: Slow down.
        Robert: Yes, Chef.
Chef Ramsay: You running is not a good idea.

      • Robert: (in an interview segment) Van is a straight-up thug. That guy is a pit bull on a chain.

      • Chef Ramsay: Here we go, gentlemen. On your toes, yeah?
        Blue Team: Yes, Chef!
Chef Ramsay: With the exception of Kevin.

      • (Dave volunteers to be a waiter for the Blue Team)
        Chef Ramsay: A one-armed bandit.
Dave: No, not a problem. I can use both hands, Chef.

      • Ariel: (in an interview segment) I love being the captain and I want to shine tonight. I want to definitely make an impression.

      • Kevin: (in an interview segment) I knew something bad just happened to me. Extremely bad.
Narrator: While Kevin nurses an injury that could force him to leave Hell's Kitchen, he learns he is not the only one in pain.
Dave: Do you have little ice packs for like, a wrist? (in an interview segment) My wrist is really screwed up. It was really swollen. I'm scared that I can't feel the tips of my fingers.

      • Lovely: (in an interview segment) We whooped they butts. Smack it, flip it, we beat 'em. And it's nothing more they can say. Helicopter, (singsong) oh!

      • Chef Ramsay: Not enough in there. These are grown men. Not enough. Hey, I've got one piece of chicken in here for a talented bunch of firefighters who save lives. One little piece of chicken.

      • Chef Ramsay: Seven garlic bread away. Lovely, I know you're still fast asleep, but you can still answer me.
Lovely: Yes, Chef. (in an interview segment) This early morning, it's not really working for me. I'm still in a daze, I still gotta pee, I ain't brush my teeth, I ain't washed my face. I'm not together yet.

      • Chef Ramsay: First of all, there's no fire in Hell's Kitchen. This was a fire drill.
Andy: (in an interview segment) Of course. Hell's Kitchen is like this really cruel joke that your friends are playing on you.

      • Narrator: After a dramatic double elimination, the exhausted chefs are ready for a little sleep and that's exactly what they get.

      • Robert: (in an interview segment) I don't give a **** if I'm on the black team, the purple team, the pink team, the team with no shirts on.

      • Tony: (in an interview segment) I proved myself by being here, you know? I mean, I didn't get a chance to shine, so out I go. But, I still think I have the palate of a god.

      • Chef Ramsay: What an idiot. Total, total shame.
Joseph: (in an interview segment) I don't need this ****. I don't need some limey **** **** talkin' to me like that.

      • Chef Ramsay: You got no respect. Now get out.
        Joseph: **** you, you **** bitch. **** all y'all.

      • Chef Ramsay: Do you think I'm scared? Huh? Look at you.
Joseph: Yeah, keep blowing **** for the cameras.
Chef Ramsay: Yeah, **** the cameras.

    • NOTES (1)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Kevin: (as he and Dave must perform while seriously injured) Remember the Alamo!

Kevin appears not to know that the defenders of the Alamo Mission in San Antonio, Texas were overrun by the Mexican army led by General Santa Anna in 1836. The defenders were able to hold out for about two weeks, however, before all the men (except one slave and a Mexican deserter who claimed to have been a prisoner) were slain. The women and children were allowed to leave, however, after being questioned by Santa Anna.
