The remaining chefs are challenged to a test of their palates. Competing in turns, they are each asked to identify ingredients while being blindfolded and wearing noise-cancellation headphones. The winning team is sent to dine in the dark, while the losing team is made to prepare sorbets for the next day's service. One chef gets on the nerves of several teammates, leading to scheming. The evening's dinner service generally seems to go well, but with some notable problems involving timing. At the evening's elimination, the chefs are ready for one chef to go, but Chef Ramsay surprises all by eliminating a chef that wasn't even nominated.moreless

      • During the night's service, Pasha Kovalev, a Season 3 contestant and current choreographer of Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, can be seen eating dinner.

      • Goof: During service, Tek can seen in the background at one point. Tek was eliminated in a previous episode, so this is an editing mistake. Jim and Robert can be seen briefly as well.

      • Rewards Challenge: Chefs from both teams were paired off and competed against each directly in a blind taste test. Blindfolded and with headphones on, they had to identify ingredients that they were being served. The team with the most ingredients correctly identified was the winning team. Reward: The Red Team won this challenge and was sent to Opaque, a restaurant where you eat in the dark, in a limo. They then got enjoy a gourmet meal in complete darkness while chatting with Chef Ramsay. Punishment: For losing, the Blue Team had to clean glasses and then prepare cleansing sorbets to be served at the next day's dinner service. They were also made to unload and sort a delivery of fruit for the sorbets.

      • Nominees for Elimination: Both teams completed a full service, but the Red Team lost for this episode. Tennille was named the best of the worst and asked to nominate two chefs for elimination. She nominated Suzanne, who she felt showed a lack of teamwork and Sabrina, who she felt hadn't stepped into the role she needed to make her team successful. Ramsay asked them to step forward, but also wanted to hear from someone else and had Amanda step forward as well. Eliminated: Amanda. Not convinced that Suzanne and Sabrina needed to go, Chef Ramsay eliminated Amanda, calling her a nice girl, but noting that nice girls don't make great head chefs.
