Episode Summary

Chef Ramsay decides to focus on teamwork and challenges the two teams to serve lunch to members of the USC Trojans marching band. The chefs cook burgers, salads and fries, with the winning team being the one that completes service first. The winners enjoy a day at the beach, while the losers clean a portion of the L.A. River under the supervision of a relief group. Before service, one chef burns their hand and chooses to hide the injury. During that service, two chefs are made assistant Maître d's and given a taste of the front of the house. In the kitchens, issues with meat and garnishes slow down service, but both teams once again manage to complete service. This leaves Ramsay with a tough decision, as another chef is eliminated and loses out on a chance to work at the Savoy Hotel.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Rewards Challenge: For this challenge, Hell's Kitchen was opened for lunch. The Blue and Red Teams were assigned to serve lunch for 100 members and cheerleaders from the USC Trojans marching band. The winning team would be the first team to complete service.

Reward / Punishment: The Red Team won this challenge, making it their first victory. For winning, they received a day in the sun at the Mailbu Beach Inn and also got to play a game of soccer against Chef Ramsay and his family. For losing, the Blue Team was made to dress up in yellow jumpsuits then travel on a bus a section of the L.A. River, where they cleaned up trash under the supervision of a group called Heal the Bay.

    • Nominees for Elimination: The winning team for this episode was the Blue Team. Chef Ramsay ordered the Red Team to come to a consensus on two chefs that they felt should be up for elimination. They nominated Fran for having a number of re-fires on the meat station and Jamie for burning the carrots and the mashed potatoes on the garnish section.

      Eliminated: Jamie.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Chef Ramsay: To be a great chef, you need creativity, leadership qualities and passion. Jamie had passion.

    • Jamie: (in her exit interview) Words can't describe how pissed off I am right now. I don't think Chef Ramsay made the right decision. I am by far a better cook than Fran is and I expected to be here a lot longer than what it was.

    • Jamie: (in an interview segment) For me to explain myself in front of Chef Ramsay, like, during service will not happen. He was just all over my ass tonight and, uh, not in a good way.

    • Chef Ramsay: Carrots are burning. How do we burn a carrot?

    • Salvatore: How do you write 'amuse-bouche'? I don't know how to write English.

    • Holli: (in an interview segment, during the reward) Chef Ramsay is cute. He looks like a real person.

    • Autumn: (in an interview segment) Burgers and fries, not particularly difficult. But then again, I'm able to cook on a level that not many people can.

    • Jason: Don't **** me because you don't understand me. Don't sit around and plot. We don't do that **** where I'm from.
