The remaining fourteen chefs face added pressure following the first elimination of the season. Chef Ramsay brings in world-renowned chef Masaharu Morimoto for a demonstration, then challenges the aspiring chefs to recreate his salmon cucumber avocado rolls and tuna nigiri to exacting standards. The winning team is sent off to enjoy a wine tasting and sunset dinner, while the losing team is forced to prepare sushi for the next day's service. During the evening's service, Chef Ramsay assigns two chefs as assistant maitre d's to relieve the pressure on new maitre d' James Lukanik. One team rises to the challenge, completing a full dinner service. The other team barely makes it out of the gate, not even serving all of their appetizers.moreless
Sous Chef (Blue)
Sous Chef (Red)
Contestant - Season 8
Rewards Challenge: For this challenge, Chef Ramsay brought in renowned chef Masaharu Morimoto. The challenge for the aspiring chefs was to recreate his salmon cucumber alvocado rolls and tuna nigiri. The chefs worked as pairs.
Reward / Punishment: The Blue Team won this challenge and was flown by private jet to San Francisco to enjoy a wine tasting, followed by a sunset dinner at a waterbar restaurant. For losing, the Red Team was made to prep sushi for the next day's service and was served a lunch of unappetizing exotic dishes.
Nominees for Elimination: The Red Team managed a completed dinner service in this episode, while the Blue Team didn't even manage to serve a single entree. As such, the Blue Team was clearly the losing team. They nominated Raj for doing nothing but sabotaging them and dragging them down, not contributing anything and Boris for shoving a chef off of his station and thinking that he was Superman. Chef Ramsay also asked Vinny to step forward for having told customers not to order sides while serving as an assistant maitre d'.
Eliminated: Chef Ramsay sidestepped all the nominees and chose to eliminate Curtis instead for ruining what little chance the Blue Team had of completing the evening's service.
Vinny: (to Raj) Bro, you're 50 years old and you couldn't pick parsley!
Chef Ramsay: Curtis might have been a good old boy, but, unfortunately, he wasn't good at cooking.
Trev: (in an interview segment) We lost miserably. I understand Ramsay being upset but, hell, I was pissed too.
Gail: I told you I could cook. (in an interview segment) We finished dinner service, yay!
Chef Ramsay: (to Raj) Come here. The big ****ing sack of piss and wind.
Chef Ramsay: Halibut's screwed now.
Emily: I don't know how to ****ing cook meat.
Curtis: (in an interview segment) One minute you're in the kitchen with Chef Morimoto, a dream in its own self, and then an hour later you're in San Francisco. This country boy is on cloud nine.
Chef Ramsay: (to Raj) Come on, you're like a walking corpse. Move.
Sabrina: (in an interview segment) I know that people clearly just don't like me, but I'm not here for them and I can't stand this.
