Episode Summary

EDIT

The remaining aspiring chefs compete in the seventh episode of the eighth season of Hell's Kitchen. Chef Ramsay challenges the chefs by having them name ingredients based on letters spun on a roulette wheel, then asks both teams to cook dishes using the ingredients that they named. The winning team enjoys a night at a fancy hotel, while the losing team is made to peel potatoes to be used in french fries. The next day, Hell's Kitchen opens for family night, including a children's menu. Despite a number of hangups, including slow service to Chef Ramsay's own family, the service goes well on the whole. This leads Ramsay to make a surprising decision come the evening's elimination.

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Rewards Challenge: In this challenge, the aspiring chefs spun a roulette wheel with letters on it. Then, they had ten seconds to name ingredients based on the letters that they spun, with each team getting a total of five ingredients. The Blue Team got kale, yams, miso, striped bass and asparagus. The Red Team went with rutabaga, cauliflower, bok choy, fennel and salmon.

Reward / Punishment: Chef Ramsay thought both of the dishes were pretty equally matched, but ultimately went with the Red Team's based on the quality of the taste of their cauliflower puree. For winning, the Red Team got to enjoy a night at the Rio All Suites Hotel in Las Vegas and were also presented with vouchers for two-night stays there in the future by famed magicians Penn Jilette and Teller. For losing, the Blue Team had unload a delivery of over 1,000 potatoes, then peel, cut and prep them all for use as french fries in the next day's family night service.

      • Nominees for Elimination: Chef Ramsay was pleased with both teams, as 90% of diners overall said that they left happy. Nevertheless, he asked both teams to nominate two chefs for elimination. The Red Team nominated Sabrina for lack of communication and teamwork throughout service and Nona based on her being in the weeds the whole night. The Blue Team nominated Boris for not pulling his weight and Rob for being buried all night.

Eliminated: Chef Ramsay asked to hear from Nona and Rob. In the end, though, he decided that nobody would be eliminated, as he felt that it had been the first truly excellent service of the season.
