Episode Summary

While entertaining the Royal Family with his magic, Orko finds his act interrupted by a strange sorceress called Majestra. Majestra performs a trick in which she appears to make the King vanish then reappear- but in fact, Majestra is really Evil-Lyn in disguise, and has teleported the King to the dungeon and replaced him with a disguised Beast Man!

Evil-Lyn has found a magical Shaping Staff which can transform anything into whatever the holder wishes- and under their disguises, Evil-Lyn and Beast Man set about causing havoc around the palace, turning each member of the Royal Family into helpless animals, while Skeletor awaits them at Grayskull with his latest creation- an evil version of He-Man, called Faker!moreless

  • The Shaping Staff

The Shaping Staff was another awesome episode of He-Man and the MOTU. I liked Evil-Lyn and Beast Mans plot. It was fun to see the characters transformed into creatures. The moral lesson was great. I find it strange that conjuring demons would be Royal entertainment. I liked how events unfolded and look forward to watching what happens next!!!!!!!!!
  • Great episode!

During their banquet, a strange sorceress names Majestra appears and performs magic to entertain the King and Queen. She performs a specific trick on the King by making him disappear and reappear from inside a box, but the King starts acting strange after this incident. Little does anyone know that Majestra is actually Evil-Lyn, who with her new Shaping Staff, can turn people into anything she wants.

I found this episode more exciting that the others because it had so much going on in such a short span of 20 minutes. We get to see Evil-Lyn capture everyone including He-Man. He-Man has to fight his evil duplicate. I don’t think they could have made this episode any more adventurous. Orko explains the moral of the story to us, which is to never trust any strangers, no matter how well they have an impact on you.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • He-Mans sheaf and sword are missing from his back when Man-At-Arms arrives in the Attack Track to bring He-Man back to the Royal Palace.

    • Skeletor creates Faker rather easily, he just zaps a beam of power from his finger, and Faker forms out of nothing! If it was this easy for Skeletor to create an evil He-Man, he could have done it any other time, he could even have created a whole army of them!

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Skeletor: I shall create another He-Man an evil one called Faker.

    • Orko: In today's story you saw what happened when a stranger came to the Palace. She turned out to be evil and dangerous. Of course, turning people into animals is only make-believe, but there is nothing make-believe about how dangerous some strangers can be in real life. Never accept any food or toys or money from a stranger. Don't even talk to them. And no matter what a stranger may say, never go away with them. Terrible things have happened to some kids who did. The smart thing is to just walk away, or in my case just float away!

    • Prince Adam: Let's go, Cringer.
Cringer: Ooh, do we have to?
Prince Adam: You want me to go alone?
Cringer: You sure you want me to answer that?

  • NOTES (1)

    • This episode features the only appearance of Faker in the cartoon. Filmation confused many toy buyers by giving him a completely different appearance from the toy- rather than being a blue-skinned version of He-Man with armor like Skeletor's, he appears here as an exact replica of He-Man, distinguishable only by glowing eyes. Also, in this episode he is a magical creation, whereas Mattel intended him as a robot.
