Episode Summary

Hercules fell in love with Rheanna, a beautiful woman who needed his help. The ruthless King Melkos held the village of Colchis in his tyrannical grip, and he had killed Rheanna's husband. A freak lightning bolt gave Iolaus the ability to predict future events, and he warned his friend that Rheanna would betray him. But Hephates, Rheanna's sister-in-law, was the real traitor. Hercules, Iolaus and Rheanna managed to escape their guards and help the village rebels overthrow Melkos. Rheanna was stunned to find her husband alive, and Hercules bid her a sad farewell.moreless

    "Fair"
I found this episode to be a very 'filler' fare.

Iolaus being struck by lightning and as a result having visions of the future maybe fairly interesting (though hardly his greatest hour), but I found the first half of this episode to be very generic and unremarkable.

King Melkos, the head villain of the story, is the campest villain ever seen in the series, and I found it very hard to believe that he was anywhere near as terrible as he was made out to be he just made me laugh at his ridiculous accent.

Midway through, things start to liven up slightly, and the breakout from the prison and escape from the fortress is not bad, but it's a bit too late on to bring the episode up many notches.

Hercules gradual falling in love with Rheanna is so-so, and it is not until the surprise revelation late in the episode that turns things on their head.

I dare say that there are many who love this sort of episode, and it would probably make a good piece of fan fiction, but I have to say, this one is far off from being one of my favourites.moreless

    • Syrus: (referring to the spy Gnossos) We dumped his body in the village square. I'd say we sent the rebels quite a message. King Melkos: Has it ever occurred to you that if I wanted to send a message, I'd use a messenger? Or that by killing their spy we have lost someone we could use to our own advantage? Syrus: No, sire. King Melkos: Not very smart, that move. Was it, Syrus? And I can't afford to have myself surrounded by stupid people, can I? Edit
