Episode Summary

The ruthless Queen Parnassa of Kastus lost her son, Millius, in battle years ago. Working with Hera, who caused Hercules to suffer amnesia, the Queen formed a plan to make the son of Zeus think he was really Millius, the leader of her bloodthirsty army. But Kirin, Hercules' "wife", fell completely in love with him and helped Iolaus to convince Hercules of his true identity. The mention of Deianeira, Hercules' late wife, snapped him out of it before he could pledge his loyalty to Hera. But the victory was a bittersweet one, as Hercules bid farewell to the lovely Kirin.moreless

  • In one of the better episodes of the season, Hera causes Hercules to receive a blow to the head resulting in amnesia, in a plot for evil Queen Parnassa to make him believe he is a Prince set to lead her army to victory...moreless

    "Superb"
After two silly and rather weak episodes ('Monster Child in The Promised Land' and 'The Green-Eyed Monster'), here things finally pick up, with this enjoyable tale.

Kirin, the woman forced to pose as Hercules' wife, is played by Sam Jenkins, the future wife of star Kevin Sorbo.

As is so often the case in the series, Michael Hurst (Iolaus) gives the episodes some of its best and most humorous moments, this time as he is dunked in a vat of grapes, resulting in him being purple for the remainder of the episode.

The climax of the episode, as Hercules overcomes the amnesia, isn't too convincing (I expected him to get another blow to the head, reversing the condition), but it doesn't mar the overall episode too much.

I found the story to be in some ways reminiscent of the first season, with its big, bold plot-line, and the heavy presence of Hera. The story is well written and well played. A shame more episodes of the season weren't of this quality.moreless

    • Hercules: (Seeing some brigands attacking an old couple) Are we having a problem here? Scarred Man: No, we're just having a little discussion! Iolaus: (Preparing to join the fight) See, we love discussions. Edit
    • Princess Kirin: You said that there was... that you had never seen anything more beautiful than those flowers. I was shocked that a Prince could talk to a commoner like that. Hercules: There's nothing common about you. Edit
    • Lonius: (After Iolaus tries to tell Hercules who he is) I was afraid of this, my lord. I think we have another assassin! Hercules: (Seeing Iolaus stained purple from grape juice) Why is he purple? Edit
