Deon was surprised to discover he had a magical gift: He could make others do whatever he wanted. First he made attacking bandits drop their weapons and depart. Then he made Salmoneus dance like a chicken. His mother, Aphrodite, who had spent one blissful night with his father, Jacobus, had given the power to Deon. Deon preferred his uncle Karis to his father and had a hard time believing Karis was the secret leader of the bandits. Finally Hercules and Jacobus convinced Deon of the truth. Karis was killed, and father and son were reconciled.moreless

    This review contains moderate spoilers.

In the opening scene of this episode, we see young Deon and his girl friend, as well as Hercules, being attacked by bandits in wind-powered beach buggies. This is one of the occasions that liberties are taken with the realities of the time period to make them more visually interesting. I found these beach buggies to be like an ancient equivalent of 'Mad Max'.

After Deon learns that his mother was actually Aphrodite, it is maybe rather surprising that the Goddess of Love does not actually appear in the episode at any point.

Meanwhile, Salmoneus has his own sub-plot, as the manure-shoveling Titus brothers want him to go into business with them. I found this to be fairly amusing at first, but after a while had nowhere to go and faded into nothing, not really being resolved by the conclusion of the episode.

This episode starts of with some potential, as Deon discovers his divine power, but I felt that the final result never really lived up to this. The episode almost becomes too sidetracked by Deon's crooked uncle, with Deon's newly-discovered power almost becoming secondary to the plot at times. At very least, it could have done with some kind of follow-up.moreless
  • Episode is about Hercules find out that he has a new relative...and of course there is always fighting...

Takes place on a beach and for my option the bandits transportation is alittle advance then should be for the time frame Hercules time frame....Hercules meets up with a old friend as well...and of course all ends well in this Episode like always, but this one has a death in it.
