When Niki and Nathan are in his hotel room, they are commenting on how high up they are. Yet when Niki is at the elevator, the arrows clearly only point upward, and there is only one button (an up button?) Why would she need to go up if she were on a high floor already? The elevator should be either two way, or simply downward.
The woman who is autopsying Claire at the beginning said she was found naked by a lake, which means her cheerleading uniform was taken off and put somewhere. The next day she appears after school with it on when she drives Broody into a wall. Where did she get the unifrom from if no one knows what happened to her but Zach? Also, how does she repair her uniform after trying to kill herself all those times in it, like when she throws herself off that bridge thing? Most cheerleaders only get one uniform.
It is clear that from the moment Claire was killed until the moment she escaped the morgue, only a few hours could have passed. When she sneaks home, she has only been gone overnight, not for a period of days. This seems like a very short period of time for the police to have found and recovered the body, so apparently they got lucky or were exceedingly good at their jobs.
The "F" or "S" symbol which appears frequently throughout the show can be seen on Niki's back as a tattoo as she performs a seductive dance for Nathan. Interestingly this tattoo is not present in the next episode "Hiro's" when Niki is found by the security guard suggesting it is only visible when her alter-ego is in control.
When Peter and Mohinder are taking the subway to Isaac's apartment, the train is labeled as the MTA 8 line. At the time of this episode's first showing, no such line existed. Also, the 8 labeling the train car was painted onto the outside. In reality, the route letter/number is displayed in a fashion more easily changed (LED Display, or a laminated sign), so that cars can be used on more than one line.
Isaac: So here we are not knowing how we feel about each other and this entire city is gonna go (makes explosion noise). Unless I stop it. Simone: You think you can save us all by shooting up? Isaac: I can save everybody. (laughs softly) I'm gonna be a hero.
(Ando just won a game of roulette) Ando: I won! I won! Did you see that? I won! Hiro: Okay. Let's leave now. Ando: Now? Are you kidding? I'm on a roll! Hiro: No. You're not. Ando: But I just won. Big. Hiro: I did it. I stopped time. Moved the ball. You won because of me. (Ando looks at Hiro surprised) Hiro: It's horrible. I'm a terrible person. But it was our last dollar. Ando: It's genius. Do it again! Hiro: No! It's cheating. Ando: Is Peter Parker cheating when he sells pictures of Spider-Man? Hiro: No. Ando: All heroes have a system. This is our system. Hiro: (smiles and shouts in English) Let it ride!
Mohinder: Your life may be in danger. I believe someone is targeting you. Nathan Petrelli: Can you be a little more specific? Twelve percent of the electorate strongly opposes me.
(Claire is driving Brody's car at an increasing speed) Claire (to Brody): Don't you think it's a little weird that neither one of us remember what happened the night of the bonfire? Brody: Must've been some night. Claire: Yeah, must have. (Claire accelerates the car to 60 miles an hour and runs a light when it turns red) Brody: Slow down. That was a red light. Claire (indifferently): Whoops. (Claire shifts the stick up and accelerates the car further) Brody: You know how to drive a stick-shift, don't you? Claire: There's a lot of things that I know. Like what you did to me. Brody: What'd I do to you? I knew it. I knew this would happen. You get drunk, you come on to me, and it's my fault? Claire (with increasing rage): You're a liar! Brody: Yeah, I rape the willing, Claire. You wanted it as bad as I did. Now stop the car. Claire: Did I want "it" as bad as Lori Trammel? Brody: Lori Trammel's a slut! Claire: Is that what you're gonna say about me? Brody: I already do. Claire: You're just gonna keep at it, aren't you? Brody (wryly): You should let it go, Claire. There's nothing you can do about it. Claire: I can do this. (Claire accelerates the car even further; the car hits a bump and bounces as Brody screams; a split second later, they crash into the wall of a building)
(Claire closes her locker door and finds Lori Trammel leaning on a nearby locker) Claire: Oh, hey, Lori. Lori: Hey. I saw you go off with Brody Mitchum last night at the bonfire. Claire: So? Lori: So what happened? Claire: Nothing. Nothing happened. Lori: I went off with Brody Mitchum once. "Nothing" happened to me too. (Claire follows Lori's gaze and sees Brody trying to push up on another girl)
(Claire's dad sees her muddy feet) Mr. Bennet: Were you out all night? Claire: No. Mr. Bennet: Were you with the quarterback? Claire: Yeah. Yeah, it was just bunch of us. It was stupid, I'm sorry. Mrs. Bennet: Honey, you're gonna miss your plane! Mr. Bennet: I'll be there in a second. (to Claire) I'm very disappointed in you. Claire: Nothing happened. Played poker. I'm sorry. Mr. Bennet: I love you, Claire. I just want you to be honest with me. You can tell me anything. You know that. Claire: I know. I love you too. (They hug) Mr. Bennet: Don't think you're getting away with this staying-out-all-night thing. There'll be a throwdown when I get back.
Mohinder: So when you're with your brother you can fly, and when you're with the artist - Peter: Isaac. Yeah. I only met him once, but after that I drew the future. Mohinder: And now you can't do either. Peter: Maybe. I can only do things when I'm around people... who can do things. (pause) Did that sound as lame as I think it did? Mohinder: It sounds like you should be talking to my father. This is his research. Peter: Well, where is he? How do I get ahold of him? Mohinder: He's on the table. (Peter sees urn with Chandra's ashes in it) Peter: I-I'm sorry. But you believe that this is possible, you have to. You believed it this morning. What if I prove it to you? Mohinder: So prove it.
Campaign Manager: I'll be meeting with Miss Sakamoto tomorrow at 11 am. Nathan: No Linderman? Campaign Manager: Uh, he's quote otherwise occupied. Nathan: Occupied? What is he, a Porta Potty? Don't let Sakamato geisha you. Get him in the room.
Ando: Which casino do we hit next? Hiro: Huh? Are you crazy? No more gambling! We need to get back to our mission. Ando: Hey. Can you teleport us to the craps table in Caesar's Palace?
Peter: I've only met him the once, but maybe I ought to do the talking to start. He's, uh, he's kind of a heroin addict. Mohinder: Heroin addict? You failed to mention that. Peter: Hey, just suspend the skepticism, at least until you meet him. Mohinder: The default scientific position is skepticism. Peter: Well, your father managed to get around it. I don't know, he took a pretty big leap. Gotta respect that. Mohinder: I did more than respect it. I believed him. I had to. I was his son. Peter: Can't be the only reason why you believed him. Mohinder: Look at what's happening to our planet. Overpopulation, global warming, drought, famine, terrorism. Deep down, we all sense something's not right. My father always talked about how an entire species will go extinct while others, no more unique or complex, will change and adapt in extraordinary ways. He had a romantic take on evolution. Peter: And you don't? You're both geneticists. Mohinder: That is also evolution. We're all just variations of the last model. Peter: Yeah. We're just cheap knockoffs of our fathers.
Claire: Look, you can't say anything. I'm fine. He was drunk and it was an accident. Zach: Which part was an accident? The rape or the murder? Claire: It didn't happen. Zach: Yeah, because he killed you before he had the chance. Claire: I'm alive! Zach: Yeah, now, but you weren't on the autopsy table. Claire: Shhh! Zach: Look, you said you had a hole in your head. Okay, maybe when - maybe when they pulled whatever was in there, its when you like, rebooted or whatever. Claire: I'm not a hard drive. Zach: No, you're little Miss Miracle Grow. Claire: Don't ever call me that again.
Simone: Isaac. Isaac: Paintings are by the door. Simone: I thought I was buying the new pieces? Isaac: I need the new pieces. Simone: Because they tell you what's gonna happen in the future? Isaac: How much for the old paintings? Simone: To tell you the truth, Isaac, I don't know if I could sell those. Isaac: So you only like the ones I painted when I was high. Interesting. So, you won't give me an advance? Simone: That depends what you're gonna do with the money. Isaac: I need painting supplies. Simone: I take it you're not talking about oils and canvas?
Peter: You Chandra Suresh? Mohinder: No. That was my father. Peter: Yeah, um... Your father wrote a book about people with... abilities. I-I think I may be one of them.
(Opening Voice Over) Mohinder: Sometimes questions are more powerful than answers. How is this happening? What are they? Why them and not others? Why now? What does it all mean?
Niki's Alter Ego: Niki's not here.
Simone: Peter, I.. I don't know what this is. I mean, us. I just got out of a two year relationship, that was very destructive. And here I am sleeping with the guy who is taking care of my dying father and it's a little confusing. Peter: I don't wanna be the rebound guy. Simone: I just need time to catch my breath before you take it away again.
Matt (To Horn Rimmed Glasses): Who's Claire? HRG (To Mysterious Haitian): He's further along than we thought. Go deep. Then clean him out.
Future Hiro: Peter Petrelli. Peter: How is this happening? Future Hiro: I'm sorry if I scared you. You look different without your scar. Peter: I don't know you, buddy. Future Hiro : Not yet. My name is Hiro Nakamura. I'm from the future. I have a message for you.
Tina: Still lookin' in the mirror and seeing a you that ain't you. Niki: Yep. Tina: Well I can relate. It's called getting old. A little botox would do us both some good.
Simone: To love. May we stay away from it when it's no good for us.
Nathan: Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.
Matt: What are you, FBI? Huh? What, are you CIA? Mr. Bennett: I'm not part of any organization that has initials. Matt: Listen to me. Whoever you think I am, believe me, I'm not him. I'm not... I'm not anyone. Mr. Bennett: Oh, that's not true. You're someone. You're someone very special.
Ando (in Japanese): Did you call the comic book writer? Hiro: I left messages in Japanese. I need to learn to say "You're going to die in five weeks then New York will explode" in English. (looks at a translation book) Ando (in English): You're going to die in five weeks then New York will explode. (in Japanese) I'll teach you to say it phonetically.
The Symbol: Seen on Niki/Jessica's shoulder when she is doing her dirty-dance with Nathan.

Powers Developments: Mysterious Man/The Haitian: It is confirmed that he has the power to block telepaths. While they are examining Matt, Mr. Bennet/HRG tells Matt that he will not be able to read his mind while The Haitian is present. It is also shown that the Haitian is able to erase people's memories, as he is ordered to do so by Mr. Bennet. Hiro/Peter: We learn one of two things. Either Peter is able to instinctively activate the powers of heroes who are near him, or else Future Hiro is able to freeze time while selectively allowing certain people to remain unaffected. When Future Hiro visits Peter, time stops but Peter is still able to move and interact. It is currently unclear whether this is due to his own power or Hiro's. Niki Sanders: Niki is shown being overtaken by her alternate personality onscreen for the first time when Linderman's thug threatens her son. Superstrength confirmed as she imobilizes a man much bigger than hers. It is also revealed that the mysterious symbol appears as a tatoo on her back when the alternate personality is in control.
Kristin Veitch who plays the roulette dealer in this episode is a columnist for "E! Online" and an avid fan of Heroes. In her column she frequently writes about the show.
Hiro: to Nathanup, up, and away. This is a reference to Superman's famous words before getting airborne.
Zach: No, you're Little Miss Miracle Grow. This is a combination of two allusions. Little Miss Miracle is the title newspapers usually give to children who survives certain situations against all odd, like being born with rare, untreatable and/or incurable diseases or suffering serious accidents or disasters. Miracle Grow is a commercially available liquid fertilizer that claims to cause unusually rapid growth in plants. This is, of course, similar to Claire's ability to quickly heal any injury.
Hiro: Let it ride! Hiro says this after he's persuaded to keep gambling by Ando. Let it ride is the theme tune for the show Las Vegas. As stated in another allusion, Las Vegas is another show made for NBC and is set at the Montecito, which is the casino used here.
Ando: Is Peter Parker cheating when he sells pictures of Spider-Man? This is an allusion to the Marvel comic book character Peter Parker, who is also the costumed superhero Spider-Man. In the comic, Parker works as a freelance photographer for the newspaper The Daily Bugle, and he is renowned for his amazing pictures of his own exploits as Spider-Man.
Hiro and Ando are gambling in the Montecito Hotel, the fictional Vegas casino which is the setting for the NBC show Las Vegas.
The scene with Hiro and Ando riding down the escalator is a reference to the movie Rain Man. In Rain Man, Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman ride down an escalator in similar suits.
