  • After the events of chapter nine, Claire faces the consequences after she has told her father the truth about her, Peter is kept captive, Matt is following a new trail to track down Sylar, Hiro and Ando meet with Isaac and Niki makes the ultimate decisionmoreless

The eleventh chapter is more thrilling than ever as it is driving the plot towards the events at the end of the volume. Peter is kept captive by the police as they mistakenly believe he has murdered Jackie. After the police discover he has not done so, he is interrogated by Audrey and Matt as to why he was in Odessa in the first place (the scene where both Matt and Peter uses telepathy is funny and cool at the same time). Moreover, Claire visits him and thanks him for saving her life something until he is finally released by his brother and collapses outside the police department after he has a very vivid dream (the purpose of the dream is in fact to make us aware that the explosion will be caused by a person and it is not an actual bomb and also to keep us guessing until the volume finale as to who is really the bomb - you will understand more once you see the second part of Volume 1). Regardless, the dream is the first single event that we get to see all of our Heroes together for the first time.

Claire tells her father the truth and he admits that he has known all along. As Claire feels confident and safe for once that she is not alone (not only because she has told her father the truth but also after she visits Peter and realizes there are others like her out there). However, when both Lyle and Zach (the only two people that know her secret) end up not remembering a single thing about her (not only that but Zach doesn't even remember being friends with Claire) she starts freaking out. The Haitian appears at her house in order to do what was done to her brother and Zach but changes his mind and reveals that not only he won't make her forget but also that he can talk (this scene was shocking).

Matt and Audrey continue their investigation and interrogate both Peter and Claire. Searching for Sylar they come across The Haitian and Claire's suspicious father. Matt remembers the Haitian as the only man who instead of hearing his thoughts he was hearing a static interference (from Chapter 3: One Giant Leap). That and only turns their suspicions on Mr Bennet.

Jessica is still chasing DL. After she shoots him on the shoulder and accidentally hurts Micah Niki resurfaces and ''puts Jessica back in the box''. She realizes the only way for her family and herself to be safe is to be put away. So she asks a police man to arrest her for murder.

Hiro and Ando believing that the cheerleader is dead decide to continue their quest when they get an unexpected call from Isaac Mendez. After they arrange to meet they discuss their notes (Hiro tells Isaac about his little trip into the future in Chapter 2: Don't Look Back, including how he found Isaac dead). Together they decide to stop the bomb and Hiro convinces Isaac to try and paint without the use of drugs. Isaac realizes he has done that after he sees some sketches and manages to paint a painting very peculiar.

Finally Sylar is shown inside a cell with Mr Bennet teasing him. The scenes with Mr Bennet and Sylar show what kind of person Sylar really is (as we have already witnessed in Chapter 10:six months ago), meaning a tormented person who wanted to be special and who is unique amongst the special ones as he is the only one who can have more than one powers at a time.Nevertheless, the best scene of this episode is between Eden and Sylar where Eden tries to make Sylar commit suicide (by using her power of persuasion) but she fails as Sylar proves to be sronger than she thought and she is forced to commit suicide herself rather than let Sylar take her power (here we learn that Sylar cannot take a power from a dead person because as Chandra Suresh said the ability exists in the brain).

Keep in mind that this episode was broadcast before the Christmas vacation and so the multiple cliffhangers are explained. Enjoy!moreless
  • What a story development

That was an episode.. It was all exciting before but the end turn it all into magnificent episode.

First everything with the aftermath of homecoming. Claire and her father talk it out but soon everyone else starts to forget and they know nothing. And then he is sent after Claire. And the listening of Claire in police station.. and ofcourse that cop and Peter in same room.

This episode really did some major developments. Putting Issac back to paint, sending Eden to kill Syler what no way happened.. and Claire getting closer to truth.. but most of all - that little sight to future. That was shocking.moreless
  • All about to happen

Igual recontra banco Heroes.moreless
  • Oh. Em. Gee.

This episode was just... wow. Woah. Amazing. Claire tells her dad the truth, but of course he already knew about her. Then they go to see Peter Petrelli, and Claire thanks him and calls him her hero. I felt so sorry for Claire in this episode, because her dad wiped out the memories of Lyle, her mom, AND her best friend Zach (who was super cool), and now her memory is going to be wiped out to... uh oh. Issac meets Hiro and Ando, and finally learns how to control his power, but paints a strange picture of Hiro fighting off a dinosaur with a sword. Niki argues with Jessica... again, and it was really cool, but creepy. Niki regains control for a bit, and in the time that she does she does the most noble thing possible and turns herself in so Jessica can't hurt D.L. or Micah. Finally, Peter gets out of the police custody but then he has a strange vision, leading him to falling over and on the hospital grounds... this episode was just stunning and brilliant. I loved it.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • When D.L opens the door to the cabin he opens it with his right hand, when the angle changes and we are inside, he's seen letting go of the door handle with his left hand.

    • When Peter has his vision about 2-3 mins before the end of the episode we see D.L picking up Micah and running, then picking him up again.

    • When Jessica shoots D.L., the bullet passes through his head and punctures the tire behind him. In the next shot, the tire is re-inflated.

    • Immediately after Sylar pulls Eden through the prison glass, we see that the blood on her face is completely dried.

    • In the Homecoming episode when D.L runs to the driver's door of the SUV after finding out Jessica (Niki's alter ego) was after them, he is wearing a camouflage hat. In this episode we see the conclusion of that scene. It is precisely the same moment, but D.L. is no longer wearing the hat.

    • Claire accidentally calls her brother "Kyle" instead of "Lyle" the first time she says his name in their scene together.

  • QUOTES (26)

    • Claire: You're the best friend I've ever had.
Zach: I've been your friend for two weeks.
      Claire: I didn't say it wasn't pathetic!

    • (Isaac is sketching when Eden walks in)
      Eden: Anything interesting?
Isaac: Nothing predictive if that's what you're asking. I don't think I can do it clean.
      Eden: You'll get there.
Isaac: To be honest it's nice to be drawing just to draw again. That's what I liked about comics, you don't have to take them too seriously.
Eden: Good guys catching bad guys. Which reminds me... Claire. The cheerleader... she's alive.
(Isaac breathes a sigh of relief)
      Isaac: Peter. He saved her.
Eden: No, you did. With your gift... I mean thanks to you, Sylar won't be able to hurt anybody anymore.
Isaac: This means we can change the future. Maybe stop that bomb.
Eden: Well, I wish you the best of luck.
      Isaac: Why? Where you going?
      Eden: Off the reservation.
Isaac: You're leaving... what good is painting the future if no one would do anything to change it.
(Eden gave Isaac a kiss on his cheek while slipping a cell phone and a keycard into his hand)
      Eden: (whispers) So change it.

    • Hiro:And I saw you.
      Isaac: What about me?
Hiro: I saw you on the floor. You were dead. With your head...cut...off.

    • Micah: It was her, wasn't it? It was Jessica.
D.L.: Sure looked like your mom.
Micah: Mom would never hurt you on purpose.
      D.L.: She just did, Micah.

    • Peter: You're okay.
      Claire: Thanks to you.
Mr. Bennet: Mr. Petrelli, I'm Claire's father.
      Peter: Hi.
Mr. Bennet: You saved my little girl. I owe you my life.
Peter: I was just in the right place.
Mr. Bennet: Maybe one day I'll be in the right place and can return the favor. (Peter coughs) Are you feeling all right?
      Peter: Yeah. Fine.
Claire: Hey, Dad, can you wait outside?
Mr. Bennet: Of course. (Mr. Bennet leaves the cell)
Claire: How long have you known?
      Peter: Known what?
Claire: That you're like me. You would have died if you couldn't...
Peter: Wait, do you... Do you heal? Is that it?
      (Claire nods)
Claire: All this time, I thought it was just me. Now there's you. Is that why you came for me? Is that why you... asked if I was the one?
Peter: No, I just- I-I knew I had to save you.
      Claire: Why?
      Peter: To save the world.
Claire: What do I have to do with the world?
Peter: I don't know. Yet. I do know that I don't think I would be here if it wasn't for you. I-I think I died.
Claire: I've died before. It's no big deal. (laughs)
Peter: I'm not like you, Claire. I-
(Mr. Bennet knocks on the glass. Claire holds up her forefinger. Mr. Bennet turns away)
Peter: This uh... This healing thing is kind of new for me.
Claire: Wait, you didn't know you were gonna heal when you dove off the building?
Peter: No. (laughs and then coughs) That's kinda stupid, huh?
      Peter: No, it's not.
(Mr. Bennet knocks again, Claire nods at him and walks to the cell door)
      Claire: You're totally my hero.

    • Police Officer: Can I help you, ma'am?
Niki: Yeah, you can arrest me.

    • Eden McCain: Think about what he almost did to Claire. I could tell him to kill himself. No-one would have to know.
Mr. Bennet: I don't have time for this, not today.
Eden McCain: You know I'm right. I know I'm right and if that-that Haitian could speak, he'd tell you I'm right!

    • Mr. Bennet: Everyone else we've... met has had only one ability. You've taken on several.
Sylar: Guess it's what makes me special.
Mr. Bennet: It's important to you, isn't it? Being special.
      Sylar: It's important to everyone.
Mr. Bennet: I think you're insane. I think the infusion of so many alterations to your DNA has corrupted your mind - all this power is degrading you.
Sylar: And yet, here I am, alive and well and as soon as I get out, I'm gonna collect one more ability from your daughter. Sweet, innocent...
      Mr. Bennet: That's enough.
      Sylar: Ripe, indestructible.
Mr. Bennet: I said that's enough, Gabriel!
      Sylar: MY NAME IS SYLAR!

    • Mr. Bennet: You're not going anywhere, Gabriel.
      Sylar: My name is Sylar.
Mr. Bennet: Now it is. Wasn't so long ago that you were Gabriel Gray. An insignificant watchmaker.
Sylar: I restored timepieces. You know why I was so good at it?
Mr. Bennet: No, why don't you tell me?
Sylar: Because I can see how things work. What makes them... tick.

    • Mr. Bennet: I have something I need to tell you, it's unfair to keep it from you any longer. What you can do... I've known about you, Claire. I knew before you knew, before you made those tapes with Zach.
Claire: You saw the tape? Why didn't you say anything?
Mr. Bennet: There are a lot of reasons but mostly I just wanted to protect you.
Claire: Protect me? All this time I've... felt so alone and like I'm some sort of freak and you knew?
Mr. Bennet: I've worked very hard, I've done some things that I am not proud of to keep you safe.

    • Gabriel Gray/Sylar: You knew, didn't you? (pulls Eden telekinetically through the glass of his cell and chokes her so she can't use her voice) You knew what I was and you let it continue. In a way, you've helped me. (laughs) And after I've consumed your power, you'll help me even more.
[Eden points the gun at his head]
Eden, you know that won't hurt me.
[Eden inhales deeply, turns the gun towards her own head, and pulls the trigger]

    • Gabriel Gray/Sylar: I do know you, don't I?
Eden: (revealing a gun) I lived next door to Chandra Suresh.
Gabriel Gray/Sylar: That wonderful ability. The power of persuasion, and this whole time you were the girl next door.
Eden: I'm gonna take this gun...and I'm gonna put it in that slot...and (voice gets deeper, echoes) you're gonna take it and you're gonna blow your brains out.
      Sylar:You knew, didn't you?
(Eden suddenly smashes into the glass. Sylar grabs her)
Sylar:You knew what I was, and you let it continue. In a way, you helped me. And after I've consumed your power, you'll help me even more. Oh, Eden, you know that won't hurt me.

    • Claire: You and Mom knew all this time?
Mr. Bennet: Your mother doesn't know, neither does your brother.
Claire: Actually Lyle kind of found out.
      Mr. Bennet: Really? Anybody else?
      Claire: Just Zach.
Mr. Bennet: Nobody else can know. It's the only way to keep you safe. That man who tried to kill you, there are others out there like him, who want what you have and will hurt you to get it. That's why we can't tell your mother, we can't tell anybody. Do you understand?
      Claire: Yeah.

    • Sylar: (to Mr. Bennett) You see yourself as some sort of humanitarian, don't you? A do-gooder. A hero, kidnapping men and women who are different. Does that make you feel powerful? We're quite alike you know. You collect special people. So do I.

    • Jessica: (to Niki, in the mirror) What are you looking at?

    • Claire: I've died before. It's no big deal.

    • Hiro: I couldn't save Charlie. And now the Cheerleader is dead too.
      Ando: "The earth is doomed?"
Hiro: "Save the Cheerleader, save the world." We failed to save her, so now we can't save the world.
Ando: No, no. "Save the cheerleader." Then "Save the world."
Hiro: No, it's an "if, then" statement.
      Ando: How do you know?
Hiro: I was the one who said it!
Ando: Future you doesn't count as you!
Hiro: Never mind. Two people died. If we don't continue they died for nothing. We will find a way. We must.
      Ando: How?
Hiro: Get back on mission. Find Peter Petrelli. Find the artist. Stop the bomb. Destiny hasn't forgotten us.
(cell phone rings and Hiro answers it)
      Hiro: Hello?
      Isaac: Hiro? Hiro Nakamura?
      Hiro: Yes?
      Isaac: This is Isaac Mendez.
      Hiro: Mr. Isaac?!
      Isaac: Hiro...we need to meet.
      Ando: Who is it?
      Hiro: Destiny!
Ando: I wish Destiny would lose our number.

    • Zach: Are you on crystal meth or something? 'Cause this is really cracky behavior.

    • Audrey: Really, Parkman, since when does "absence of noise" warrant a stakeout?
Matt: You always say I don't take you anywhere.
Audrey: You sure know how to spoil a girl.
      Matt: Eat your tex-mex.
Audrey: (thinking to herself) Gotta say, he can be cute. Oh god, did he just hear that?
(Matt looks over at her, smiling)
Audrey: Did you just read my mind? (Matt laughs) You can't do that - it was a stray thought and... You can't do that!

    • Claire: (to Peter) You're totally my hero.

    • Audrey: You've never cheated on her?
Matt: No. (off her look) You don't believe me?
Audrey: Well, statistically speaking, law enforcement attracts a certain kind of male personality.
Matt: Oh? What personality would that be?
      Audrey: Dogs.
      Matt: And the female personality?
Audrey: Bitches - we keep it in the canine family.

    • (Isaac is busy completing a new painting)
Ando: (translated from Japanese) I thought he only painted the future...
Hiro: (translated) Oh no! What if I step on a bug? I could change history...
Ando: (translated) Change history? You're gonna die!
Hiro: (translated) I really need to find that sword...

    • Nathan: Easy, it's alright.
Peter: It's all my fault.. the explosion
      Nathan: What you talking about?
      Peter: It's me!
Nathan: Breathe. (slaps him) Peter! PETER!

    • The Haitian: I work for your father. He sent me here to make you forget. Like he sent me to your friend...and your brother...and to your mother so many times. He'll be here soon, expecting that you won't remember anything... but it is very important that you do. Tell me, Claire... can you keep a secret?

    • Isaac: (whispering) And recently, I painted a picture of an exploding man.
Hiro: How do you stop an exploding man?

    • (Nathan walks into Peter's cell)
Peter: Nathan. What are you-What are you doing here?
Nathan: You get in trouble, I drop everything and fix it. Isn't that how things work? Get you out of here soon.
      (Nathan and Peter hug)
      Peter: What, no lecture?
Nathan: I'm just glad you're alive, man.
Peter: Why did you destroy that painting? Why did you try and keep me from coming here?
Nathan: That painting showed you dead, Peter. And when I got the phone call, I nearly believed it for a minute.
Peter: Yeah, I'd thought I'd be a hero.
Nathan: Yeah, heh. How'd that work out for you?
Peter: Save the cheerleader, save the world.
Nathan: You're meant to do a lot of things, Peter. (sits down next to Peter) Saving the world isn't one of them. You gotta learn to recognize when life is bigger than you are. You're not a fighter. But that's okay. The world needs nurses, too.
Peter: When I'm around you, I can do what you can do. Isaac, Hiro Nakamura, this girl Claire. See, I-I-I think that we're all the same somehow. And this bomb that Isaac painted, I think we're supposed to stop it. But I just...I don't think I can do it. (Peter looks away from Nathan)
      Nathan: That's because you can't.
Sylar: How can you stop what's coming?
(Peter turns around to see Sylar sitting where Nathan was)
Sylar: When you don't know anything about power?
(Peter wakes up from his dream)

  • NOTES (6)

    • Hiro: Live long and prosper. (and accompanying hand symbol)

References Spock and Vulcans from Star Trek.

    • Hiro: What if I step on a bug? I could change history....

This is a tip-of-the-hat to Ray Bradbury's 1952 sci-fi short story "A Sound of Thunder," where time-travelers go on safari hunting dinosaurs. They're allowed to kill them, but can leave no trace of their existence. When one of the hunters steps off the path and kills a butterfly, his entire future is replaced with a much darker world.

    • Claire: It's like the Stepford Body Snatchers or something!

1975's The Stepford Wives and 1956's Invasion of the Body Snatchers are two films about people who start behaving oddly, one by one. In the former, it is because they are being replaced by emotionless, devout robots; in the latter, they are supplanted by alien clones. Both films have been remade, "Invasion" several times, most famously in 1978 and last in 2007, "Stepford" in 2004. Both the 2004 movie and the 2007 movie featured Nicole Kidman.
