    From the Editor of the Guide. TV.com Forum Guidelines apply.

    Basically you should follow the rules listed by TV.com in the main forums.

    If you see someone breaking the rules report their post.

    Don't advertise where to download episodes in the forum and don't ask someone where you can download episodes in the forum. I am adding examples of correctly formatted submssions.
    If you see submissions that are clearly of this type but they do not follow the format feel free to submit them after you have fixed them.

    ------------------------------------------------
    Powers Developments:
    Claire Bennet: Her body will regenerate almost instantly from virtually any injury, the only limit seems to be that obstructions must be removed (such as a protruding rib which must be pushed back into place before her skin can heal). We see her testing these powers by falling a long distance, walking through fire, and putting her hand into a garbage disposal. She also seems to feel very little pain.

    Isaac Mendez: He seems to be able to paint the future, but he believes that he can only do it while he is on heroin. We see several paintings which Isaac claims to have painted weeks before, but which clearly show events that have happened within the last 42 hours.

    Hiro Nakamura: Hiro claims that he can "bend the space/time continuum" thus speeding up or slowing down his passage through time and being able to "teleport" by instantly moving to another point in space/time. We are told that he made his train late this morning, we see him make the second hand of a clock stop and then move backward, we see that he gets past a throng of women to wind up in the women's bathroom, and finally we see him teleport from a busy subway train in Tokyo to Times Square in New York.

    Nathan Petrelli: We learn that he can fly. When Peter jumps from the rooftop, Nathan is able to fly upwards and catch him in an effort to save his life. This may have been foreshadowed by the fact that Nathan always appeared in Peter's flying dreams earlier in the episode.

    Peter Petrelli: Peter has strangely vivid dreams of flying and claims he has a sort of spiritual connection to his brother, Nathan. When Nathan suffered an accident some months ago, Peter knew of it in a dream. Niki Sanders: She seems to have an alter ego with a very different personality, and possibly possesses super-human strength. Niki often sees her reflection moving independently of her own actions, and when threatened by two enforcers she blacks out (possibly being "possessed" by her other personality) and wakes up to find the men dead, including one of them being literally ripped in half.

    ------------------------------------------------
    Power Developments:
    Niki Sanders: As evidenced in her fight to save Micah, Niki can now control her superstrength without Jessica taking over.

    Peter Petrelli: After Niki comes near him, Peter absorbs her superstrength and uses it to battle Sylar. If Peter returns in the Second Season, he should have Sylar's additional powers of liquifying metal and enhanced hearing. If is unknown if he was in close enough proximity to D.L., Micah and Molly to absorb their abilities.

    Charles Deveaux: Not clear what his power is at this point, but he was able to meet with Peter when he returned to an earlier point in time and nobody else could notice Peter.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Powers Developments:
    Maury Parkman and Matt Parkman: Maury Parkman revealed that he has telepathy, however he is clearly much more adept at it than his son. Mr. Parkman was able to block Matt's telepathy, read deep into both Matt and Nathan's memory and induce a vivid telepathic vision on both Matt and Nathan. This is also the first time we see that a power has been inherited.
    Plus, this is the first time Matt can send a message to someone else's mind, instead of simply reading his thoughtspeak.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Powers Developments:
    Candice Wilmer: Her power to create illusions can not only shapeshift her into anyone she's seen, it can also shapeshift the area around her, although the extension of the area affected remains unknown.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Powers Developments:
    Hiro Nakamura: We learn that he can move through time as well as space. We find out that his teleportation from Tokyo to New York also sent him five weeks into the future.

    Matt Parkman: He can hear the thoughts of others. Though he believes that he finds the little girl because he hears her whispering, no one else can hear her. Also, when we see her, we see that her lips are not moving. Further, he begins to hear what several of the police and FBI agents are thinking including the name "Sylar" which gets Matt arrested because they have not made it public and assume that Matt must have inside knowledge of the crimes.

    Peter Petrelli: Possible ability to replicate other powers. We learn that Peter flew for a moment after Nathan tried to stop his fall, and then we see that Peter is able to at least hover when Nathan (who can fly) is nearby. Peter also does a stick-figure drawing of a future event after he spends some time with Isaac (who can paint the future).

    Niki Sanders: Further evidence of an alter-ego personality. After blackouts, she finds that the garage has been cleaned and the bodies put into the trunk of a strange car that was registered months ago under her name. She also finds herself showered and dressed in different clothes with no memory of how that happened.
    ------------------------------------------------
    New Heroes:
    There were no new heroes introduced in this episode.
    ------------------------------------------------
    New Heroes:
    Claire Bennet: A seemingly normal High School cheerleader, Claire just wants to forget her new abilities and live a normal life. Her parents names are unknown, but her father is the mysterious man with the horn-rimmed glasses; sister of Lyle Bennet; friend of Zach. Age: 17. Gender: Female. Hometown: Odessa, TX.

    Isaac Mendez: Renowned painter and comic book artist, Isaac is also a heroin addict whose paintings tend to depict violence and tragedy. Dating Simone Deveraux. Age: 28. Gender: Male. Hometown: New York, NY.

    Hiro Nakamura: A cubicle worker for Yamagato Industries in Tokyo, Hiro has always dreamed of living a life of purpose... of being a hero. Friend of Ando Masahashi. Age: early twenties. Gender: Male. Hometown: Tokyo, Japan.

    Nathan Petrelli: Nathan is running for the U.S. Congress, and fears that his eccentric mother and younger brother will hurt his chances of winning the race. Older brother of Peter Petrelli; Son of Angela Petrelli; Reluctant associate of Linderman. Age: early thirties. Gender: Male. Hometown: New York, NY.

    Peter Petrelli: A hospice nurse, Peter has a gift for making dying patients feel better just by his presence. Brother to Nathan Petrelli; Son of Angela Petrelli; Caretaker for Simone Deveraux's father. Age: mid-twenties. Gender: Male. Hometown: New York, NY.

    Niki Sanders: A former casino employee and young mother whose ex-husband is in jail for murder, Niki supports herself and her son by running an Internet strip-tease business. Mother of Micah Sanders; Ex-wife of D.L. Hawkins; Owes money to Linderman. Age: Late twenties. Gender: Female. Hometown: Las Vegas, NV.
    ------------------------------------------------
    New Heroes:
    Molly Walker: She has the power to locate anyone on earth, like a human tracking device.
    ------------------------------------------------
    The Symbol:
    When Matt Parkman leaves Molly's house at the murder scene, the helix symbol 'Godsend' can be seen in the swimming pool.
    ------------------------------------------------
    The Symbol:
    The S symbol appears on a building in Peter's painting.
    The S symbol also appears on Micah's Copycat comic. (left-hand corner)
    ------------------------------------------------
    The Symbol:
    There were no new appearances of the symbol in this episode.
    ------------------------------------------------

    These belong in the Trivia section:

    Goof: What did the oxygen that burned Mr. Sullivan's face react with? As far as we saw, there was only air surrounding Mr. Sullivan's head, and air isn't flammable.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Goof:
    Addison: It's a cloudless sky that happens, like, twice a year in Seattle.
    Mark: Yeah, but there's a typhoon in New York.

    In reality, typhoons happen in the Pacific region west of the dateline. Everywhere else, it's called a hurricane or a cyclone. Mark probably just said this to be a joke. He probably knows there's no such thing as a typhoon in New York, he just wanted to make something up so he could stay with Addison.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Goof: As Cristina is walking out of the OR covered in blood, the spot of blood above her left eyebrow disappears and reappears between shots.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Goof (Continuity): When Izzie is talking to her patient, her bangs are on the right side of her face. In the next shot, her bangs switch sides and are on the left side of her face.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Goof (Errors made by characters): When Cristina states the cause of the death of the man on whom they performed the autopsy, she states that the cause was a condition known as "Hematomachrosis". However,the actual term for this condition is "Hemochromatosis".
    ------------------------------------------------
    Goof: When Niki Sanders is watching the tape with her stripping for the Linderman guys, the voice over the part where she is lifting her shirt says "that's the way I like it". On the pilot episode when that scene was shot, the same voice says "look at that belly".
    ------------------------------------------------

    These belong in the Quotes section:

    Meredith: I wish I wanted to be a chef. Or a ski instructor. Or a kindergarten teacher. George: You know I would've been a really good postal worker. I'm dependable. (Meredith chuckles) You know my parents tell everyone they meet that their son's a surgeon. As if it's a big accomplishment. Superhero or something. ... If they could see me now.
    Meredith: When I told my mother that I wanted to go to medical school, she tried to talk me out of it. Said I didn't have what it takes to be a surgeon. That I'd never make it. So the way I see it, superhero sounds pretty damn good. George: We're gonna survive this, right? (Meredith just smiles)
    ------------------------------------------------
    (George, Izzie & Cristina are there looking at the babies as well)
    Meredith: Okay, fine. George and Izzie you can move into the house.
    George: Yes. Yes!
    Izzie: I can't believe she caved.
    George: Thank you.
    Meredith (to Cristina): I can't believe I caved.
    Cristina: I blame the babies. They make you toxic. Addison: Dr. Bailey, can I get... (she sees Mark in other room)... Oh my God!
    Derek: Oh my God...
    Meredith: Oh... my ... God.
    George: Is that... Cristina: Dr. McSteamy. (Meredith throws up and George sees Mr. Sullivan in other room trying to light a cigarette)
    George: No, Mr. Sullivan, don't light that! (Mr. Sullivan lights a cigarette causing an explosion)
    ------------------------------------------------
    Simone: These are fantastic!
    Issac: No! They're evil. Simone: What are you talking about?
    Issac: What am I talking about? You know what I'm talking about? (Picks up painting of a burning bus) You see this? Suicide bombing in Israel. I painted it three weeks ago. Simone: Yeah, so?
    Issac: So? That's this morning's paper. Look at the number on the bus. This happened yesterday. Yesterday. Something's wrong with me.
    ------------------------------------------------

    These belong in the Allusions section:

    Volume Title: "Genesis"

    In the Jewish Torah, "Genesis" is the first book which details the creation of life on earth. This title plays on that because the episode is about a new stage in evolution, which could be called a new creation.

    The book of Genesis (and many of the other books of the Torah) also make up the "Old Testament" in the Christian Bible.

    As a parallel allusion, the word "genesis" also means "origin" and the first issue of most comic books (in which we generally find out who the super hero is and how they got their powers) is often referred to as an origin issue.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Episode Title: "A Hard Day's Night"

    "A Hard Day's Night" is also the title of a Beatles song. Incidentally, so is the title of the 1987 Patrick Dempsey movie "Can't Buy Me Love".
    ------------------------------------------------
    Episode Title: "The First Cut is the Deepest"

    The title is a reference to the song by Cat Stevens (also recorded by Rod Stewart and Sheryl Crow.)
    ------------------------------------------------
    Mohinder (to Sylar-as-Nathan): You're one of them, am I supposed to walk you off to the gas chambers as well?

    In WWII, one of the ways Hitler killed Jews was telling them they were going to a shower when they were really going into a poison gas chamber where they died within fifteen minutes.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Izzie: 007? What's 007?
    Meredith: Licensed to kill. These are references to the series books and movies about a fictional spy named James Bond. His agent number was 007 (pronounced "double-oh-seven") and he was a covert spy with the catchphase "Licensed to Kill" since he had been by his government.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Nathan (To Peter): Do not pull a Roger Clinton on me, man! I'm eight points down in the polls.

    Reference to former President Bill Clinton's half-brother Roger Clinton, who was the family's black sheep, having criminal records of drugs, drunk driving, and various other charges before being pardoned by the former President in 2001.
    ------------------------------------------------
    HRG: Probably a lot of Sureshs where you're from, like Smith or Anderson.

    Smith and Anderson are the names of the antagonist and protagonist of The Matrix Trilogy. Agent Smith is the antagonist and Thomas Anderson (Neo) is the protagonist.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Claire: It's like the Stepford Body Snatchers or something!

    1975's The Stepford Wives and 1956's Invasion of the Body Snatchers are two films about people who start behaving oddly, one by one. In the former, it is because they are being replaced by emotionless, devout robots; in the latter, they are supplanted by alien clones. Both films have been remade, "Invasion" several times, most famously in 1978 and last in 2007, "Stepford" in 2004. Both the 2004 movie and the 2007 movie featured Nicole Kidman.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Monica: That's why Clark Kent wears those glasses.

    Clark Kent, is a fictional character created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel. He serves as the civilian and secret identity of the superhero Superman.

    Contribution Guide: Please visit the other Contribution Guides I've created as TV.com won't let me post because the system thinks "Your HTML is not well-formed - please check for unmatched quotes and tags."

    Please include a source that I can use to verify the information you are submitting when you submit allusions, most notes, trivia, and summaries.

    Please be careful when you write a review. If you intend to review a particular episode make sure you are doing just that and not reviewing the entire show.

    Here are some good examples of what I expect:
    The West Wing's Pilot Episode
    The West Wing episode "7A WF 83429"
    Grey's Anatomy's pilot episode "A Hard Day's Night"

    as a editor for a show on this site as well, I think you should have put a lock on this, so nobody can post on this thread.

    Regarding Notes Submissions Like:
    This is the first time such and such happened.
    This is the first time we meet this character.
    This is the third time we've seen this symbol.

    I recieve submissions much like these all the time and my general response is that such things belong in a recap. Here's the reasoning behind that. If I let everyone submit plot points like these into the notes section then eventually you'd have a detailed recap in 200 one sentence out-of-order pieces in the notes section. Not only would that look unprofessional to the casual passerby but also it would be redundant if someone did write a recap. Make sense?

    If everyone were to compile all the little notes like that one together I would never allow it in the notes section because it would be a recap. Usually someone submits a recap for the episodes within 2 weeks of airing. If you'd like to add your sentence in the appropriate place within the recap I wouldn't mind. Just tell me which paragraph I should look in so I don't have to read the entire recap to find the sentence you added. If you want to do an overhaul of the recap you are welcome to it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Regarding Submissions Like:
    That was cool!
    I love Hiro!
    What time does this come on next week?
    I will not except them. They either belong in you personal review of the show or in your personal blog. If you want to know when a show comes on next week check the next episode guide on the show summary page or the listings page. Do not submit these things to the notes section or to the recap or summary of an episode.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Do not copy summaries verbatim from other websites.

    New Episode Guide Submission Sections and a general question for the Tv.com users and readers.

    What would you like to see in the Editor's Blog? Since I can't make announcements about new guidelines for this guide in the Editor's Blog be sure you read here! This is where I will post updates for the guidelines for how I will moderate submissions. If you have any ideas about what you'd like to see in the guide please let me know by sending me a PM.

    Examples of New Sections from pilot episode guide below. Please follow these examples when submitting to the guide. I'll write out the details of these sections at a later date when I can figure out how I phrased it the first time. Good Luck Submitting!

    Cast and Crew Note
    This note exists to remedy all problems that arise from the following: 1) a difference between the people who are credited and the people who appear 2) crew titles that are unavailable or do not directly match the credits that were displayed during show airing 3) the order that the credits are displayed in the guide does not match up with the order that the credits were displayed during the episode 4) to add in "and"s and "with"s and "by"s and "special guest appearances"s
    5) to note that sometimes the crew title given is not the crew title actually used when the episode aired
    6) to include names of actors whose character names are not yet known.

    Listing only some of the names could create confusion. Please list them all.

    Credits should still be listed in the "add crew" and "add cast" sections.

    All credits should be submitted in one big submission not many small ones. If you see something wrong you should edit the preexiting submission not make an all new one.

    Just because someone worked on the show and TV.com doesn't have the title for their crew credit does not mean that they are not important. (For example, Tim Sale is credited as Isaac's Artwork by: Tim Sale. I think we can all agree that his work and contribution to the show deserves recognition.) These people deserve credit for their work as well.

    There should be separate submissions of this note for each episode.

    Here is an example from "Run!"

    Cast and Crew Listed During Episode::
    Starring:
    Jack Coleman
