I believe prove this. One, if you look at the photos of Sylar that are
lit up through photo editing, you will see he appears to be a man in
his 50's. That would be the approximate age of their father.
Their
father has been mentioned countless times. They say he had a
despression disorder, and tried to commit suicide several times. He
failed to commit suicide the first several times (reminiscent of
Claire). The mom says he suffered from "delusions of grandeur", which
Peter also had, but they turned out to be true. While they say he
committed suicide, Sylar is powerful enough where he would be able to
fake his own death (he falls down like he is dead when he gets shot,
and then gets back up again).
The hero powers are genetic. In
some of the heroes, it is probably a mutation of some sort (x-men
style), where they are the first to posess the gene or at least have it
activated. We have not seen any siblings yet of the heroes that also
have the powers. Except Peter and Nathan. They both have powers. That means it was passed down. Nathan can fly (that we know of so
far), and **SPOILER ALERT** Peter is an empath (as revealed through
interviews, spoilers, and the hints provided in the show). These are
two different abilities possessed by them. Sylar has mutliple
abilities.
Also, on Sylar's map of the Heroes, you see some
pictures of them here and there. Then you see the big newspaper cutout
of Nathan, including the article. Also, we see in the future that
Nathan wins the election in a landslide. Could Sylar (if we assume its
Papa Petrelli) team up with Nathan? This would make sense, as many
people seein Nathan as being evil or going bad. It would make sense he
teams up with his father. I believe that Peter will end up being the
good one, who must battle his evil brother Nathan and his father
Sylar. Some interesting family dynamics would come into play, dontchya
think?
I believe the theory that Papa Petrelli is Sylar makes
the most sense, and makes for the most interesting storylines and
character arcs in the future.
