Peter struggles to open the vault with telekinesis, giving Hiro, Matt and Nathan enough time to stop him. However, we have seen that Peter has DL's power to phase through walls, carrying people and various objects with him. Presumably he could simply slip into the vault, take the virus, and come back outside.
This was the last episode completed before the WGA strike that started on November 5, 2007.
On the cover of the 9th Wonders comic which is set aflame, St. Joan can be seen holding a small dagger known as a kriss. The same type of weapon is seen later in the vault at Primatech.
Goof: Maya doesn't display any knowledge of Chandra having died. But she doesn't wonder why Sylar takes her to Mohinder instead.
If you look carefully, when Nathan is presenting his speech, one of the microphones has the NBC logo and the channel name on the front of it.
Goof: If Mr. Bennet was healed by Claire's blood, he shouldn't need glasses anymore. Possible Explanation #1: But if so, that would not make sense. Her blood would heal him to how he should be before the gunshot. This doesn't mean he is cured from his sight problems. Possible Explanation #2: Perhaps Mr Bennets eyes aren't actually damaged, he was possibly born with defects in his eyes as a result of his DNA. Meaning the defect is in his genetic code and hence upon regeneration his eyes are restored according to his DNA. Possible Explanation #3: An inherited DNA problem could explain it, however, in the NBC Heroes graphic novel "blindsided" (chapter 74) it is revealed that mr. Bennet actually had a perfect vision, but his eyes where damaged by a highly bright light. The only possible explanation would be that Claire's blood can only heal recent injuries (it probably cannot resurrect dead people after some time, also).
Sylar: You and I have trust issues, doctor.
Peter: (to Matt) You're on the wrong side! Nathan: What about me, Pete? Peter: Nathan? Nathan: Am I on the wrong side, too?
Peter: Did you kill Hiro's father? Adam: I did. He saw to it that the virus be safely kept here. If he didn't plan to use it, why not destroy it? Peter: Why don't you make me believe you, Adam. Hiro said not to trust you. Adam: The woman you love is trapped in some horrible future where nearly everyone is dead. You can change that. She needs you, Peter. We all need you. To open that door.
(As Maya recovers) Elle: Sylar's gone. (bangs hand on doorframe in frustration) My dad's gonna kill me. Mohinder: I doubt that very much. If you hadn't arrived, Sylar would have slaughtered us all. We owe you our lives. Elle: Really? Cool!
Sylar: Welcome home, Dr. Suresh. What happened to your nose?
Hiro: Why are you protecting him? Peter: Adam is my friend. Hiro: He was my friend too, 400 years ago. He betrayed me. He willl betray you. Peter: No! He saved my brother's life. Hiro: He murdered my father! Peter: Your father had him locked away for 30 years. I know. I was in that same prison.
Bob: Do you realize how much damage you've done by provoking Claire? Elle: I couldn't help it. She was just so weepy, and earnest, and… who knew she'd turn whistle blower?
Peter: So what do we do now? Adam: I guess you have to pry it open with that brain of yours. Peter: Huh, I'm not sure I have that sort of power. Adam: Ah, there's not much at stake here. Just the fate of the entire human race.
West: I didn't come to help you, Claire. I came to stop you. Claire: These people ruined my life. Your life. West: No, they didn't. But what you're about to do? I'm pretty sure that will.
Molly: (trying to 'find' Alejandro) He's not anywhere. Maya: But, if he's not anywhere… (gasps)
Nathan: Peter, you're not responsible for something that might have happened. You came here to destroy the virus. Finish the job. Peter: Stand back.
Matt: What the hell's going on? Your mother, my father; God knows what else they've done. How much longer are we gonna have to clean up their mess? Nathan: Matt, you're right. You're right. We've been used by these people. Manipulated. But it's over. It stops here. No more secrets.
Monica: I'm here! I'm here, help me! How did you find me? NIki: Micah. Monica: Oh, I love that kid!
(Bennet walks in and Claire, shocked, drops a box she was holding) Bennet: Hello, Claire Bear.
Nathan: He used me to get to you. Don't you see that it. He tried to manipulate you like that. Peter: Nathan.. Nathan: Peter, that night at Kirby Plaza when I carried you away, it was because I believe in you. You're my brother Pete. I love you. Can you really trust Adam?
Ando: Hiro , where have you been? Hiro: I went to face my father's killer . Ando: Well , did you find him? (Hiro nods) Ando: Did you kill him? Hiro: He can never hurt anyone ever again. Adam: (inside a coffin) Get me out of here!!
Angela Petrelli: (on the phone after Nathan's shooting) I know. It was unavoidable. You do know that you've now opened Pandora's box.
Nathan: Good afternoon. Most of you have no idea who I am. My name is Nathan Petrelli, and I was elected to Congress in the state of New York. Seems like a long time ago. I lost my position. I lost my brother. I lost my family. I'm sad to say that I lost my way. But while I was gone, I had the chance to see the world through newly-humbled eyes. Witnessed amazing things. I've seen ordinary people among us, trying their best each day to be heroes. These ordinary people...like you, like me, are capable of extraordinary things. You have no idea...how extraordinary. But there are other people, organizations, who don't want you to know the truth. I, myself, kept secrets. But last year... something incredible happened to me. And it changed my life. At first, I was afraid. But I'm...I'm not afraid anymore. I'm here to tell you the truth. I have the abili... (Nathan gets shot in the chest twice and falls down)
Hiro: (raising arms as he shouts out to Nathan) Flying Man! Matt: (also to Nathan) Who's this guy supposed to be?
Hiro: You are not God. Adam: Really? I've lived for over 400 years. Who is to say that I'm not going to live 400 more?
Maya: Hey you're nothing like you said you were. Alejandro was right about you all along. Sylar: You wanna get rid of your powers, I want mine back. After Suresh fixes me, I'll gladly take yours off your hands.
Bob: Noah, we have a problem. Bennet: I'm not part of your "we". Do you remember? Bob: It's about Claire. She is becoming difficult. (Bennet smiles) Bennet: Is she?
[West flies away, and Mr. Muggles starts barking] Claire: You won't leave me, will you, Mr. Muggles? [Mr. Muggles whimpers and runs to the front door]
Sylar: (to Mohinder) Where is the heal-anything blood? Molly: Please! Sylar: You had it here all along? You and I have trust issues, Doctor.
(After proving that his abilities have returned) Sylar: I'm back.
Mrs. Petrelli: It all went so wrong. 30 years ago, a group of us came together to change the world, to fix it. And Adam...had a perspective on history that was compelling and we believed in him. I did. Linderman. Your father. Nathan: Bob said you locked him away. Mrs. Petrelli: No. Not at first. In the beginning, I helped him. Nathan: You what? Mrs. Petrelli: And in the end, Adam decided that the world just wasn't worth fixing and that it needed to be wiped clean, with an unstoppable virus. Just before it was too late, I, um... I came to realize how wrong it was. Nathan: Did you? You and Linderman wanted to blow up New York to save the world. Doesn't sound like you've changed at all, Ma.
Adam: (taking Hiro's sword) I believe this is mine, Carp.
Sylar: Your father helped me find my gift and now here you are restoring it. Life has its poetry, doesn't it? Mohinder: My father who you murdered. Sylar: Your father who betrayed me. Don't make that same mistake, Mohinder.
Maya: You killed him? You killed my brother! Sylar: (shoots Maya) Now look what you made me do.
(Nathan nears landing at Primatech with Matt on his back after carrying him in the air) Matt: Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down, slow down, slow down! Yeow! (Nathan stretches out his back) Okay, we don't talk about that ever again! Nathan: Agreed.
(logging onto Daddy's (Bob's) computer) Elle: Huh, does Suresh know that you've got him on video surveillance? Sylar! (Looking at a photo of Daddy) Oh, Daddy you're going to be so proud of me.
Elle: You said you knew all about my ability. Tell me what my dad did to me. Bennet: I'm stuck in this hellhole. My family thinks I'm dead. There's not a lot of incentive to share. (Elle powers up with a ball of electricity in her hand) Elle: I could make you tell me. Bennet: You could try. Elle: (powers down) Please, I don't have anyone else to talk to. Bennet: They wanted to see how much wattage you could discharge. Enough to power a flashlight? Streetlamp? An entire city block? During the testing you'd pass out from the strain. We'd all want to call it a day, but daddy said, "No, my girls tougher than that". You were seven. The hardest thing a parent ever does is to have to see their child in pain. Most parents. Bob: Elle, what are you doing here? Elle: Leaving!

The Symbol: The helix/"Godsend" symbol appears in the dust remains of the Shanti virus on Peter's hand and on Micah's 9th Wonders comic book, in the upper left corner.
Power Developments: Molly Walker: We learn that Molly cannot locate someone who has died. Adam Monroe/Claire Bennet/Peter Petrelli: We learn that a simple gunshot to the head is also permanent death for someone with a healing ability. Although this was implied in the previous episode, it was in reference to a shotgun, which at close-range would be exactly the same as decapitation. Micah Sanders: We learn that Micah does not need to be touching machines to interact with them, as is demonstrated when he causes several stoplights to turn green from inside a car.
Originally this episode was to be the final episode before the hiatus. Due to the Writers Guild of America strike, however, it became likely that the series would not return in the spring. For this reason, Powerless was "punched-up" to increase tension so that this episode could be used as a season finale if necessary.
(Sylar uses his regained telekinesis to grab a spinach can) According to director Allan Arkush, this is a reference to the cartoon sailor Popeye. A sort of early super hero, Popeye gained tremendous strength whenever he ate spinach.
Eckert Spinach The can Sylar uses to test his regained power is labelled "Eckert Spinach". Walter Eckert is the Heroes art department coordinator.
Angela Petrelli: (on the phone) You know you've opened up Pandora's box now? (hangs up phone) In Greek mythology, after Prometheus' theft of the secret of fire, Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create the woman Pandora as part of the punishment for mankind. Pandora was given many seductive gifts from Aphrodite, Hermes, Charites, and Horae (according to Works and Days). For fear of additional reprisals, Prometheus warned his brother Epimetheus not to accept any gifts from Zeus, but Epimetheus did not listen, and married Pandora. Pandora had been given a jar and instructed by Zeus to keep it closed, but she had also been given the gift of curiosity, and ultimately opened it. When she did, all of the evils of mankind escaped from the jar, although Pandora was quick enough to close it again and keep one value inside, and that was Hope.
Noah Bennet playing catch with a rubber ball against the wall of his cell is a reference to the 1963 film The Great Escape, in which the P.O.W. played by Steve McQueen does this whenever he is put in solitary confinement.
Bob's Password: MIDAS This is a reference to the mythical King Midas who could turn any item he touches into gold, similar to Bob's power.
Adam: When God wasn't happy with what he created he made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights. He just washed it all away. This is an allusion to the story of Noah and the Ark from the book of Genesis in the Bible. In the story, God destroys all life on Earth, with the exception of his favorite worshiper, by causing a massive flood.
