Sky1 (ended 2005)
| There is no contest here! At all! Charmed first, then Hex a close second. Buffy just was never ever good. Ever. And as for Supernatural... don't even get me started on that crap! |
Hahaha a lot of you are saying Charmed was crap, yet it outlasted both the others! Awww I just realised all three have ended now so there is nothing more magical
Yes in terms of the reasoning to get rid of Cassie, and you'll notice that even on this website, it's Christina Cole's picture that dominates. While Laura Pyper was quite good, and the transition was handled as well as could be expected under the circumstances, Cole's departure still undermined the entire set-up of the series.
Otherwise, Charisma69's comments are right on point. With the possible exception of the middle half of season 6, BTVS was brilliant and inventive. Charmed was entertaining but fairly fluffy. Hex was derivative but well-presented. The comparison shows how difficult it is to write for episodic television. Joss Wheedon and company were the only ones able to sustain quality over a long period.
BUFFY was always really good...can't say anything else, well-written, good actors....maybe I can say that season 2 & 3 were my favs...
CHARMED was the frist I saw out of the three...I used to be a huge fan of it...until season 5 which one was unwatchable (exept on episode 5x20 - Sense & Sensability), season 6 was just ok, season 7 was faboulous like old Charmed but something brand new in the storyline and season 8 was unwatchable again...sometimes everything seemed to be really childish...sorry
HEX I've just seen the first episode (twice) and I can say I'm really getting in it. Dark, mystery but lovely, waiting for more (it just started to air in Hungary in May or June on AXN and I just caught the repaits on Friday)...
So I can't really choose, after 1 episode HEX is beetween BUFFY (#1) and CHARMED (#2) but it can go up and down...
i love all three shows, have watched charmed and hex from the beginning. while they are all shows dealing with the supernatural they are very hard to compare:
hex dealt with the religiousside (the fallen), was not given much of a chance
buffy mostly with vampires, remained the same throughout, but started to go downhill towards the end, then ended leaving you to wonder what happened next
charmed with everything other than vampires, got better after season 3 then ended with no lose ends
all three shows showed females in a strong leading role which is one of the things that makes them all so great
Despite the base similarity between the shows, Charmed was really not going for the same thing that Hex and Buffy were and I feel like Buffy was camp whereas Hex was melodrama. Personally I'd have to go with Buffy, but I also loved Charmed for very different reasons. Hex, needed a lot of work in my mind.
