Shouldn't Arnold give Mr. Simmons advice in order to make him a better teacher?
Phoebe, Harold, Curly and Nadine don't appear in "Save the Tree." Eugene does not appear in this episode and Rhonda appears briefly in "Save the Tree", but is the only child who does not fight in order to save the Mighty Pete.
Sid appears briefly in "New Teacher." He is among the kids when they go out of the school after Mr. Simmons quits. But he is not seen before or after this passage.
Why is Arnold siding with everybody to get rid of Mr. Simmons? Not only that, but how can the kids just barge out of school at, like, 11:35 AM? (The clock said 11:30 before they started harassing Mr. Simmons and it took about 5 minutes.)
There's no such thing as "oh-ten-hundred-hours" ("ten hundred hours" without the "oh" means 10:00 in the morning; "oh-nine-hundred-hours" means 9:00).
All the students' positions switch around between shots as Principal Wartz announces about the old teacher retiring in the beginning of the episode.
ANSWER - The pan shot of the students listening, up to when every gasps, was taken from "Tutoring Torvald," with Principal Wartz's voice placed over where Ms. Slovak's voice was heard. Also, you can partly see Torvald sitting in the classroom when everyone gasps.
When the shot changes to everyone cheering, this is new material. (The color tint difference reveals the difference.)
There is no such rank as Lt. Major in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, the writers should have known that.
Lt. Major Goose: You, what's your name?
Curly: Curly.
Lt. Major Goose: Your hair's not curly, boy! What's your real name?
Curly: Thaddeus.
Lt. Major Goose: Curly, go stand over there!
Sid: We thrown everything but the kitchen sink! (gets the kitchen sink) Oh well, here goes!
Vic: Don't worry, Bob, we'll have that tree down in no time, and then we can put up a new Big Bob's Beeper Emporium. Only this time, I'll be a 50% partner!
Bob: 20.
Vic: 40.
Bob: 20.
Vic: 30.
Bob: 20.
Vic: Okay, deal.
Mr. Simmons: Well, that's one way to respond by not responding. Silence: often speaks volumes.
Principal Wartz: It's like music to my ears.
Arnold: If I hit the lever, I think I can stop it.
(cup misses lever)
Helga: (mimicking Arnold) If I can hit the lever, I think I can stop it.
Arnold: (Thinking) I hope they stop in time.
Helga: (Thinking) Gosh, he smells good.
Stinky: It's Big Bob!
Sid: And... some other guy!
Character Debut: Mr. Simmons, Sgt. Goose.
Harold's last name (Berman) is revealed, as is Curly's first name (Thaddeus).
Although Ms. Slovak quit teaching, starting in "New Teacher," there actually were episodes featuring Ms. Slovak that premiered after "New Teacher," like "Teacher's Strike," since the episodes with Slovak were meant for Season 1. But the first season ended early and some episodes meant for Season 1 didn't air until Season 2.
Ms. Slovak has left the plotline because she wanted to take up "a career in golf."
The gimmick that tied into the season premiere was 3D scenes that one could view from glasses available from Kraft and other companies.
Curly: Why do fools fall in love?
Curly is referencing the song "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.
Mr. Simmons: "They Were Delicious" by Walter Charles Walters.
The poem that Mr. Simmons reads in class is a parody of William Carlos William's poem, "This Is Just To Say."
