        Jake: Yeah, the guy can be really weird.
        Melody: So, hes always been that way that doesn't prove anything.
        Jake: That doesn't disprove...
        (Danny returns)
        Danny: There are no chips under the porch. Nobody in there right mind would keep chips under the porch unless they were a pod person.
        Jake: Me?
        Melody: Yeah, what do we know about you?
        Danny: You just show up one day claiming to be Mr. E's nephew.
        Jake: But I am his nephew! Buddy, tell them I'm your cousin.
        Buddy: Maybe you are, but maybe you aren't.
        Jake: Oh yeah, well if anybody is a pod person it's Melody.
        Melody: Well, you still haven't proved your Jake Decker. You know maybe Jake Decker doesn't really exist.
        Jake: Danny come on, shes the only girl in American who likes The Three Stooges if that doesn't prove shes a pod person.
        Buddy: I don't care if your all pod people you are boring pod people.

      • (during the mock wedding)
        Jake (to Brad): Do you take Kyle to be your lawfully wedded husband?
        Brad: I'd rather be nibbed to death by ducks, Jake.
        Jake: I'll take that as a yes. (gets a nearby horseshoe and hands it to Brad) Bradley, take this and repeat after me. With this ring...

      • Invasion of the Body Snatchers: A 1956 science fiction film starring Kevin McCarthy. It is about people who are taken and replaced with evil copies of them. A remake was made in 1978. Buddy suspects that some or all of the people on the ranch could be pod people.

      • Gremlins: A horror film released in 1984 about small creatures that transform into destructive monsters. A sequel was made in 1990. When Melody asks about favorite horror films, Buddy mentions Gremlins, but Jake dismisses it as being "too cute".

      • Aliens: A horror film starring Sigourney Weaver. When Melody is talking about favorite horror films she mentions Aliens.

      • The Thing: A 1982 horror movie that stars Kurt Russell. It is about a shape shifting alien. When Melody poses the question of favorite horror movie Danny mentions The Thing.
