Mel: Don't you want to say something in your defense?
Ted: I shouldn't have to defend myself, not with you guys. You asked me if I took Brad's money and I said no. You asked me where I got the money and I said I didn't want to tell you. That should be enough. This isn't a court of a law, its just us guys, just friends. And friends believe friends, friends trust friends and that's what this all boils down too, either you guys trust me or you don't. Have your little vote and what ever you decide is fine with me cause if you guys don't trust me then I don't want to be here.
Brad: I voted we fire him.
Danny: Don't you think your being a little drastic?
Buddy: Yeah, all he did was take a little money.
Brad: That's how it starts next thing you know we'll be dead in our beds.
Brad: What would happen if they can't work with someone because they can't trust him?
Mr. Ernst: If you all strongly feel that you can't trust someone then I'd probably have to let that person go.
(Jake questions Danny)
Jake: The important thing to do is to ignore the overwhelming circumstantial evidence; like the fact that Ted was desperate and would do anything to get that cassette player, or the fact that Ted was next to Brad during the blackout, or the fact that it was Ted's idea to call off the Monopoly game, or the fact that it was his idea to postpone the search, or even the fact that Ted wasn't even there at the search this morning.
Jake: Just ignore all that. The thing to do now is to examine the criminal psychological profile which would prove Ted's innocent. Now what kind of guy is going to steal money from his friends?
Danny: I don't know.
Jake: Is it going to be the kind of guy who doesn't think of the effects of his actions, who's a little self centered, a little thoughtless?
Danny: Like Ted!
Jake: That does sound like Ted doesn't it? We solved the crime Ted did it.
(The kids are playing Monopoly with Brad as the banker)
Ted: Sure, Monopoly money she gives me. I don't even know why I'm playing in the first place. I'll just land on Boardwalk where Brad will have built six hotels and a shopping mall.
Buddy: At least you don't have to be the shoe.
Ted: Ted McGriff doesn't give up.
Brad: And Bradley Taylor doesn't give in.
