Hi Honey, I'm Home!

Show Summary

Hi Honey, I'm Home! was a comedy in which a sitcom family from the 1950's, The Neilsens, moved into a suburban neighborhood via the Sitcom Relocation Program. Wacky hijinx ensued as they interacted with their new neighbors, the Duffs. In addition, Hi Honey, I'm Home! was television's first instant rerun. Each week an episode of the show would air on ABC as part of their Friday night line up. Afterwards, the episode would re-air Sunday night on Nickelodeon as part of their Nick-At-Nite line up.

  • I loved this show when I was a kid and it's still hilarious now.

I used to love this show when I was kid, I was about 11 when it came on and I still find it hilarious now. I wish I could find more than just the first episode to watch. I really loved the guest stars from old sitcoms that the other reviewer talked about. I remember Al Lewis in his role as Grandpa Munster as well as others. Most people probably won't agree with me on the fact that it's a great show but I love it and urge others to check it out and see what they think. Whether you like it or not it would be nice to have some more reviews.moreless
  • Perfect 50s sitcom family (Donna Reed crossed with Lucy) next door to a real 90's family (think Roseanne). Hilarity, with the "Neilsens" preferring to live in black and white--because everyone's nicer there. Each week classic tv star guests.moreless

The first episode of this show is now on tvland.com, so you can see for yourself--It was ripped off by \"Pleasantville\" and other so-called \"original\" works, but was way before its time. Gale Gordon (Mr Mooney) made his last tv appearance on this show, and many other classic sitcom stars (Eva Gabor, Jim Nabors, AnnB Davis, etal), also appeared in episodes. Check it out--it\'s way more than a guity pleasure.

The regulars on \"Hi Honey\" were New York actors, not your usual tv suspects. Peter Benson appeared with Harry Connick in \"Pajama Game\",in \"Cabaret\" on Broadway, and more; Susan Cella is a veteran singer/dancer who was in \"The Graduate\" on Broadway; Stephen Bradbury was in the original \"A Few Good Men\" on Broadway; Julie Benz was in \"As Good as it Gets\" with Jack Nicholson, and Charlotte Booker (\"Honey\") went on to do lots of tv guest shots (\"Law and Order, Criminal Intent\", \"Drew Carey\", etc) while continuing a comedy career in New York (\"Cause Celeb!\"), and tons of plays. And, as a trivia tidbit, \"Skunk\" in the original pilot was AJ McLean!

The fab theme song was by Rupert Holmes (\'Mystery of Edwin Drood\', etc)--and some of the writers went on to create \"Sex and the City\", the original \"The Lion King\", and the Broadway hit "Grey Gardens". Check it out and tell me what you think.moreless
