A lot of times pilots simply are not a good representation of a series as they are written months prior to the rest of the show and pacing, timing and style can change between the time. This is the case as this episode was a vast improvement over the pilot and showed that this series has a little promise.
The supporting cast is still the reason to watch this show, but Nancy Robertson did grow on me a little bit after I wrote her off after the pilot. She's still a little too over the top, but she is funny with the role, I'll admit that.moreless

Joyce: Crystal, I need to talk to you.
Crystal: Just a second. (Joyce takes her phone away) Jeez, the others weren't kidding about your "sarge" complex.
Joyce: That's exactly what I want to talk to you about. The others... I can sense a mutiny. They're starting to turn against me.
Crystal: No offense, but they were never really for you.
