Show Summary

A long-running British series drawn from the real-life experiences of writers Jimmy Perry and David Croft tells us the story of a group of people at a British holiday camp titled Maplin's, set around the 1950s. The show starts when the entertainers return to the camp for the 1959 holiday season and find out that their new camp entertainment manager is Jeffrey Fairbrother, an academic, who is a total opposite of them. The entertainers include a wisecracking Ted Bovis; a senior Yellowcoat named Gladys Pugh; Ted's understudy Spike; a child-hater Mr. Partridge; dance instructor Barry Stuart-Hargreaves and his wife Yvonne and may other. As the time goes by, sparks fly between characters, the stories get complicated and it's all combined in an intersting and funny 30-minute episode.
