Although Elizabeth Taylor appeared in "The Nanny," "Can't Hurry Love" and "Murphy Brown," she didn't make an actual appearance in this show (we see a hand and hear her voice off-screen). Ironically, or perhaps not so, in an earlier episode, Dott made a joke about buying Liz Taylor's black pearls in a yardsale.
This episode was part of an Elizabeth Taylor theme-night on CBS. While visiting "The Nanny," Elizabeth Taylor's black pearls were stolen. They wound up in a cab where Nancy McKeon found them on "Can't Hurry Love," but McKeon lost them while dancing at a party. Meanwhile, Taylor made a plea to the media on "Murphy Brown" to find her beloved jewels -- but they aren't recovered until Ellie's also-stolen jewelry is found on "High Society."
