I never had much to say about Victor French. Too often he's either just the bumbling comedy sidekick or the concerned onlooker. But this episode finally gave him a chance to really stretch his character.
The opening skit with the roller-coaster was pretty much boilerplate for Mark Gordon. So was the subsequent scene with the lost little girl.
Mark treats the angelic reference as the compliment that it was meant to be. But the plot deftly does a total turn with the death of the very same girl he helped. Now he says his intervention was actually the cause of her death.
Mark's overwhelming guilt and and how he is finally redeemed are wonderfully treated in this gem of an episode.
