  • Love story featuring Oscar-nominee Dorothy McGuire

    9.0
I have never seen Dorothy McGuire in "Claudia" or her 1947 Oscar-nominated "Gentleman's Agreement," but her performance here as an elderly widow left no doubt she is a class act.

Love stories are not unique, but they are to this series. I can't remember another previous episode that was completely devoted to a relationship.

I thought the entire episode was put together very well. I also liked the choice of Debussy "Claire de Lune" for the piano scene. I was afraid the lady's neglectful relatives would be portrayed as comical buffoons, but in this episode they were all played straight.

I enjoyed the comic relief of Jonathan posing as an extrovert hipster. In fact, the overall use of humor in this series is a major improvement over the corniness that so often ruined earlier episodes for me.moreless
