  • Early work by Ken Olandt is memorable, but James Troesch is not

Ken Olandt had one of his early roles as a high school student who loses his lower legs after a car accident. Olandt is actually in his mid-20s (born April 1958) in this episode. Seeing his character struggle with his handicap is especially rivetting given Olandt's exceptionally well-built physique. It is almost perplexing to see someone so muscular reduced to such a level of helplessness. Olandt does a fine job making the dichotomy believable.

While Olandt's work was a positive for this episode, James Troesch's was not. His character consisted of little more than an endless stream of platitudes about not giving up. Troesch, a real-life quadriplegic since age 14, is stuck with a very poorly written role that makes him more comical than inspiring. It is difficult to sympathize with him while listening his almost holier-than-thou attitude.
