This is the first Season 2 episode that I really liked. Great story, great writing, and great acting.

Moses Gunn (who appeared in "The Neverending Story") was terrific as the retired pitching star. His character was all heart, and didn't have a phony bone in his body. His insistence on baseball being fun seemed cliched at first. But he proved his point when he said that when he played ball, you had to have fun, because players back then didn't earn very much.

Ted Tilly's scenes with the kids and their test papers were brilliant. Tilly used baseball as a reward for working hard in school - he was a great role model.moreless
