In terms of being epic, Hikaru no Go has been one of the better shounen shows out there that I have been watching recently. The build up of characters, the decisive decisions, and you know what? Those other shounens have their characters using swords, magic, or guns. Here? They're playing a frikkin board game? And you know what? It's every bit as epic. The character development of Hikaru throughout this episode alone was really great to see. He really wanted to play by himself without relying on Sai, but realized he couldn't and break down in tears. Quite a relate-able situation; everyone wants to win knowing they got their using their own strength, but Hikaru isn't there yet.
