Akari invites Hikaru to the Haze Junior High festival. Hikaru reluctantly goes, but cannot find Akari anywhere. So, while walking around he stumbles upon a group of kids around a Go board. Tsutsui, the head of the Haze Junior High Go Club, is holding a competition. The prize is a book entitled Assorted Tsumego from Touya Meijin's Matches. After seeing this Sai is eager to win it. But, can he with the sudden appearance of the Shougi captain, Kaga?moreless

Although Akira has only started playing Go recently, his understanding for it has been growing, and this was displayed pretty well when Hikaru placed the stone on the board like an expert. He finds himself in an interesting situation, at a junior high festival. We're introduced to a new character in Kaga who is a victim of Akira and demises the game because his dad pushed him to be the best. Kaga's archetype character of the misunderstood adolescent is presented pretty good, despite revealing just about everything about his character when we just first meet him. It ended on an exciting note when Hikaru gets distracted and places the stone at the wrong spot, leaving him open for an attack.moreless

- Off-screen moment: In reference to Kaga smoking in the manga, when the issue of the American Shonen Jump came out, Kaga still held a cigarette. However, when the graphic novel came, they changed it to Kaga chewing gum in order to make it have an "All Ages" rating. In addition republished versions of the SJ issue were made to have Kaga chewing gum too. Sadly, only Japanese manga readers and people who have the early versions of that one issue will know the truth of Kaga smoking.
