Episode Recap

Phil opens roll call with a notice about the new pooper-scooper law that goes into effect, details on a vending machine bandit, a warning about use of the company refrigerator, and night shift being reduced because of Monday Night Football.

Undercover, LaRue poses as a wino and nails a suspect, although Washington busts his knee during the pursuit. Belker, Bates, and Coffey have their hands full trying to take down an extra-large extortionist, and Grace stops by the station to tell Phil that there's a chance she might be pregnant.

Davenport accuses of Washington and LaRue of entrapment. At the station she's made a sleazy proposal by former law colleague Alan Wachtel, pertaining to getting in good with Frank because of her personal relationship with him. Fay tells Frank that Frank, Jr. got in trouble for shoplifting. Meanwhile, Goldblume and Fay inadvertently put a damper on Phil's joy of Grace's news that she might be expecting.

Bates and Coffey are devastated to find a 10 year-old girl shot in drive-by crossfire, and Renko and Hill inadvertently bust the vending machine thief when he makes an illegal left turn. Washington and LaRue, Belker, Renko, and Hill, and Furillo all attend night court. The judge and the defense take a recess to catch the end of the football game, and spill the score, to Renko's bitter disappointment. Washington laments the unfairness of the system to Furillo. Meanwhile, Bates and Coffey go after the shooter of the 10 year-old girl, and Bates if forced to shoot.
