  • Nothing more than a lobbying effort against the second amendment, with some human interest drama peppered randomly throughout.

This yawner I could have skipped altogether, and watching it on a rainy day nearly induced a coma. The entire episode was nothing more than a gun control plea loosely disguised as television entertainment. This was obvious from the beginning of the episode when every single officer in the precinct groaned at Phil's telling them that there would be a firearms convention later that day. C'mon, weaponry is COOL! Even if not everyone agrees, certainly your typical police force is going to have an interest in it, so this was a political farce in the script right off the bat.

The unabashed leftism continued with the shooting of the officers and Furillo's subsequent questioning of a collector who had illegal possession of two brands of firearms, the overwrought irony of the man questioning the world's morals being very one-dimensional.

The coup de grace, however, was a close-out of Joyce's handgun in front of a photo of her and Furillo above their bed, the obvious message coming after Furillo questions her about carrying one. I wanted to yell "Oh, please!" before shooting up my computer screen, Elvis style :)
