Davenport cancels on Furillo for lunch because her interviewer from the Justice Department has flown into town. Goldblume and Ray squabble over rank, and Coffey and Bates need back-up to take down a suspect high on PCP. Hill and Renko meanwhile pull over a jokester for running a stop sign.
Belker embarrasses Tataglia by keeping her from helping to restrain the suspect. The station enjoys the quips of the comic that Renko and Hill arrested, and the "belles of St. Mary's" arrive.
LaRue tries to persuade Neal to sponsor Vic, the comic. A short-tempered Furillo nearly gets in a fight in a restaurant, and Furillo later admits to Ray that he doesn't believe Ray has all the leadership qualities necessary for the position of captain.
Fay tells Furillo that she's pregnant. Vic gets off in court and Coffey is put on probation when Tatum, the PCP user, is found dead in his cell. Davenport tells Furillo that she was made a job offer by the justice department.
