Episode Recap

Roll call begins with Phil debriefing the officers on watching out for check-cashing businesses, the Merchants Association's rights to act as extensions of the law, Hoban's release, and mentions Harris' upcoming memorial service at St. Theresa's. LaRue moves in on the film director, Cynthia, while Howard questions Furillo's sanity in wanting to help Hector Ruiz. Renko invites two prostitutes to lunch at a fancy French restaurant, only to have a run-in with another patron, whom Renko flippantly gives his name.

Washington and LaRue run into Hoban, Renko and Hill's suspected shooter. LaRue invites Cynthia to a stake-out which turns deadly. Santini questions whether he should have become a cop in the first place, or if he just did it for familial obligations. Washington and Hill are furious with LaRue for bringing Cynthia on the stake-out, and Renko and Hill get into it, with Hill threatening to get a new partner if Renko doesn't snap out of it and quit acting like a big baby.

Furillo warns LaRue that if anything happens like that again he's out. Belker takes Debbie with him off-duty on a stake-out, and she's so turned on that she attacks him back at the apartment. Her aggressiveness turns him off, however, when he confesses his love for her and realizes she's in it for the thrill. Santini confides in Furillo that he doesn't think he's cut out to be a cop, and Furillo advises him to do what he's best at: making cabinets.

Hoban turns himself in after finding himself down on his luck on the streets. He gives Furillo a full, taped confession, which helps bring closure for Renko.

Davenport watches the newswoman's report at happy hour, and she and Furillo meet with Hector Ruiz, informing him that no one will accept him outside of juvenile detention. Furillo asks for six months in detention to prove himself, and Ruiz agrees to try his best.
