      The West Files, which is the main sketch for this episode, refers to the show The X-Files, a scifi/drama series that ran from 1993 to 2002. The show portrayed two government workers investigating incidents that involved unusual circumstances.

    • Scooby Doo
      The characters depicted in an animated part of this episode are very close resemblances to the individuals from the popular 60's cartoon. In fact, the only two that aren't carbon copies are Shaggy, who seems to be overweight, and Scooby Doo, who is called ' Scoot ' and appears to have a pig/bear snout for a nose.
