In TV Guide's "Hits and Misses" column, television critic Susan Stewart gave this episode a 2 (out of 10), writing, "Hulk's macho act is old news – even his family seems bored. Hogan exhibits less wit than any five minutes of the dullest sitcom" and saying that the series "doesn't pack a single punch."
2.7 million people tuned in to watch the premiere of Hogan Knows Best.
Hulk Hogan: Not as long as my name is Hulk Hogan!
Hulk: (About Adam) He should probably take his nipple rings out and date someone his own age. Dating my ass.
Adam: (About the restaurant, meaning 'recommendation') Good rec. Brooke: What? Oh. I thought you said, "Good Rack."
Nick: We're tracking Brooke's car. Linda: Are you kidding me?!
Adam: Rhinos have sex for like two days at a time. Brooke: That's an interesting piece of information.
Linda: (About Adam) Nick! He's got nipple rings!
Linda: (About Adam to Nick) I don't think that it's appropriate for him to take you to a gay beach!
Nick: You know that Adam's got nipple rings, right? Hulk: What are you gonna tell me next? That he's got a pierced scrotum?
Hulk: (To Brooke) You can give me a call every hour or so.
Adam: Have I had an AIDS test? Yeah. (After a long and awkward pause) Negative.
Adam: You were curious about my sex life? Hulk: Yeah. Adam: (After a long pause) Okay.
Adam: You sure those guns haven't gotten bigger since last time? Hulk: (Modestly) They're about the same size.
Hulk: (To Brooke) This Adam kid's 22, and you're a child. That's illegal.
Sales Clerk: I am sure glad that I'm not Brooke Hogan.
Hulk: (To Brian) It's gotta be a hands-on situation, where if he has his hands on any parts of her, we break 'em.
Linda: What do you want her to do? Stay up in her room like Rapunzel?
Brooke: (About Adam) I think he's cute. Hulk: Your point being?
Brooke: Not dating like going steady, like I go back into his room and bang him.
At the end of the episode, Hulk says that Adam and Brooke probably won't be going on any more dates.
We see the first appearance in the series by Hulk's friend Brian Knobs, who was part of the famous Tag Team the Nasty Boys back when he was a professional wrestler.
Linda asks her husband if he wants Brooke to "stay up in her room like Rupunzel." She is referring to the classic fairy tale Rupunzel, where a girl was locked in a tall tower. In the end of the story, she is rescued by a prince who climbs up Rapunzel's long locks of hair. It could be said that Adam is Brooke's handsome prince.
