  • Whether you are a fan or not, a good representation of the series style.

Hogan and the crew rush to discover the identity of a Gestapo agent planted in the underground and Klink must deal with a new "secretary" and potential wife, Getrude (Burkhalter's sister).

Its often difficult to review a single episode of "Hogan's Heroes", they all run very similar in style if not in plot, and either you like the approach or you don't. This one is somewhat unusual in that the two subplots don't really interweave, other than Hogan's loose assertion that Gertrude might be a Gestapo spy and so Klink might best date her because possible "wedding bells" are better than "the Siberian sleigh bells". Meanwhile, Newkirk uses both his gift for safecracking and his gifts for voice in this episode (he recognizes the Gestapo spy by voice).

What this episode has (and most others do as well), is the real joy that the actors put into their characters -- its broad comedy but it shows through in that they never slip from character or really "let down" a notch. Its no wonder that decades later, people still remember many details about Klink, Burkhalter, Schultz, or Carter.
