    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Early in the episode Werner Klemperer mistakenly calls Hilda "Helga," the name of Klink's secretary only in the first season.

      • Sigrid Valdis (Patricia Crane)begins her five season run as Hilda, the secretary to Kommandant Klink. The original intention of the producers was to replace the secretary each season, ala The Bob Cummins Show. Since Sigrid did such a great job as Hilda, the producers abandoned the idea and kept her on for the duration fo the show.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • (everyone, including Schultz, is about to parachute back to camp)
Schultz: Col. Hogan, I'm to old to parachute jump!
Hogan: Never too old, Schultz. Come on!
Schultz: Col. Hogan, I'm too big to parachute jump!
Hogan: Now, there you have a point!

      • Schultz: The crew will meet me at the plane?
Hogan: Word of honor. You don't care which crew, do you?

      • (after Biedenbender leaves the formation)
LeBeau: What do we do now, Colonel?
Newkirk: We're fighting against a ruddy crystal ball.
Kinch: Yeah, sounds kinda spooky to me.
Carter: What'll I do with my bombs, Colonel?
        Hogan: Carter...
Carter: Forget it, sir, I'm sorry. You've got your own problems.

      • Carter: (bringing in the bombs) Uh, Colonel, there's no way I can be around when they go off?
        Hogan: No, Carter.
Carter: Yeah, okay. It's kind of like sending your child off to war without you.
        Hogan: Stiff upper lip.

      • Hogan: (after Klink shows him the replica bomber) You know, every time I come face to face with this cruel German cunning, I always wonder why my side is winning.

    • NOTES (2)

      • This episode appears first on the VHS collection's "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles" volume.

      • Veteran character actor James Gregory is known as the reactionary Senator John 'Johnnie' Iselin from the classic movie The Manchruian Candidate but is perhaps most beloved as Inspector Frank D. Lugar NYPD from Barney Miller.
