Hogan's Heroes

Season 6 Episode 16

The Meister Spy

Aired Friday 8:30 PM Jan 17, 1971 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • Hogan gives Herr Strausser's contacts information that there would an Allied offensive to the south. The correct direction was not given to him before the 'con' on Herr Strausser.

    • Carter does one of his rare yet chilling Hitler impersonations in this episode. Actor Larry Hovis appears as Hitler without Carter's customary black gloves, which he insisted on wearing during filming to hide his real-life wedding ring. Since Hitler was officially married, the gloveless scene works.

Reply: Hitler did not marry Eva Braun until the night before their mutual suicides about a week before Germany's surrender.  Prior to that, he was never married and his relationship with Eva was kept strictly under wraps.  The German people believed he was a dedicated servant married only to Germany - an image he wanted to maintain.  Most had no idea she even existed until after her death when the marriage became known. Consequently, Hitler would have never appeared in public wearing a wedding ring during the time this episode takes place.

  • Quotes

    • Strasser: That uniform... You're an American!
Hogan: Someone around here has to be.

    • Miller: You're going to a German intelligence meeting?
Hogan: I really had nothing else to do tonight, and it is nice to get out of the house once in a while.

    • Hogan: The Colonel wants ya.
Schultz: I didn't hear him call me.
Hogan: Yeah, I know, but why wait 'til the last minute? I think he has a prisoner he wants locked in the cooler.
Schultz: (chuckles) How can you think you know what he wants me to do before the Kommandant even thinks he knows what he thinks he wants me to do? Impossible!
Klink: Schultz, on the double! I have a prisoner to go into the cooler immediately!
