Undercover cops Nick McCarren and Jack Rado do not like it when "their people", the street people of Hollywood, are being harmed or murdered. To protect the hookers, hustlers, and general weirdos who live in their 'hood, they've developed a large network of locals who keep them in the loop. These informants include Captain Victory, a cape and leotard-wearing goofball, Billy Night Eyes, a Native American who runs a newsstand, Lita, the sexy owner of a bar, openly gay former linebacker George, and Lady Di, a bag lady with attitude. This short-lived series was designed to have the gritty street feel of the then-popular Miami Vice.moreless

I remember that show...was aired in Italy when i was 12-14 years old, and i liked it! Is the story of two detectives(Scali & Acovone)who are suppose to defeat crime in Los Angeles working undercover.
In some ways it's alike "Starsky & Hutch"...same funny and sad moments and a lot of friendship and fights between the two really differences characters; there is also an alike headquarters in a bar but in this show the bartender(John Matuszak)is a gay.
Hollywood Beat is far more violent and glittered...supposed to be a real section of the Hollywood life in the 80s.
Unfortunately the show didn't survive even for a full season...moreless
