    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • Goof: While defending Marty's parenting skills to Jill, Tim accidentally says, "The guy can't even be with his girls on his birthday." Since it was actually the twins' birthday, Tim should have said "on their birthday."

      • Notice the scene where Claire wants a cookie before dinner, and her father is telling her no, and they are fighting back and forth. The actress playing Claire is supposed to be angry, but she is clearly smiling.

      • Watch closely at the scene where Claire and Gracie rip open the Spice Girls dolls that Tim and Jill gave them for their birthday. The actress playing Gracie looks at her doll and glances over at her sister, obviously waiting for her to say her line first before she goes ahead with her own line and facial reactions. It looks very awkward when you watch it.

    • QUOTES (7)

      • Jill: What would you define as out of control?
Tim: I can't define it... but I'll know it when I have to clean it up.

      • Brad: Hey, Uncle Marty, my dad says you got a job in canine nutrition.
Marty: I stack kibble at a dog food warehouse.

      • Marty: We're waiting out Claire's tantrum.
Jill: Oh, Marty, that is so good!
Claire: (screaming from her bedroom) This room is stupid! This house is stupid! Everyone here is STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!
Marty: Yeah, it's a dream come true.

      • Tim: (about Marty disciplining his daughters) I'm really proud of Marty for getting through this.
Jill: Yeah, we're just lucky our boys are through that phase.
Brad: (storms in) You know, I hate living in this house! I mean, thanks to you guys, I'm stuck in a cramped little basement with my geeky brother. I've got no privacy, I've got no ventilation, and last night, in the middle of his sleep, Mark starts singing a Puff Daddy medley! This is crazy! This is insane! I hate living in this house! Gosh! (leaves and slams door behind him)
Jill: (pauses) Well, at least he's potty trained.

      • Tim (about Claire): She screams louder than Al's mom when you try to take away her pudding.

      • Tim: We don't know anything about raising two girls.
Jill: Excuse me, someone in this room was a girl once.
Tim: That was years ago, before the operation. You promised you wouldn't bring that up again!

      • (About Claire riding her bike round the house.)
        Marty: What's going on?
Tim: She wanted to ride her bike around the house, and, and Jill didn't think it was a good idea.
(Tim walks away and Jill gives Tim a look.)

    • NOTES (1)

      • Kath Soucie provides Claire's voice when she's screaming from her bedroom upstairs towards the end of the episode. Soucie is well-known for voicing twin babies Phil and Lil DeVil on the 1990s cartoon Rugrats.
