Right after Paula burns her kitchen down, her mother Doris tells her that she’s divorcing Paula’s father. Brendon is working on a cop movie, and McGuirk offers to help fix up the kitchen. ''
This is a good episode but it is not the best in the series. The highlight, I think, it the interplay between Paula and her mother. Her mother is condescending and controlling and I not only love how Paula relates to this but I also like how Brendon seems to get along with her. Coach McGuirk's attempt to con Paula by pretending to remodel the kitchen is pretty funny. His opinion that he's a father figure to Brendon is great. Also, the movie that they are making is hilarious. The plot is ridiculous and I just love the name Dumper as a character.moreless
When Paula and Brendon were watching wrestling on TV, the wrestlers resembles Coach McGuirk and the FPC leader, from the episode Shore Leave, right down to the color of their clothes.

Brendan's mother puts the fire alarm in the freezer, not in a drawer
Edit
15 minutes and 1 second of the episode are Act I, making it the longest Act I out of the Home Movies series.
Edit
Paula's dad has been cleaned up slightly since we last saw him. He has a lot less facial hair and no ear hair.

(Jason is on the phone with Brendon and Melissa.)Jason: There's defintely a divorce coming on. Ahh, hold on a second again.
(Holding the phone down, screaming) Gimme a break! He doesn't want chicken, Mom! Gimme a break! Please stop yelling! I can't stand the yelling!
(Brendon and Melissa look skeptical. Jason lies on the floor.)Brendon: Uh, Jason.
Jason: Why the yelling?! Why the yelling?!
Brendon: Jason.
Jason: Why! Make it end!
Melissa: Jason.
Jason: Make it end! (Sits up and talks normally on the phone.) I totally relate to you guys about the divorce thing, because, I mean (sighs) it looks like they'll be divorced by the end of the day.
Melissa: Jason.
Jason: Yeah?
Brendon: Your parents aren't really getting divorced, are they?
Jason: Huh?
Melissa: They're staying together, aren't they?
Jason: Uh, yeah.
Brendon: Your parents aren't even there, are they?
Jason: I don't know.

(The kids finish a scene.)Doris: (Clapping) Bravo, kids! Bravo.
Jason: Thank you very much, Mrs.…(mumbling) whatever your last name is.
Edit
Brendon: Jason, your parents are still together.
Melissa: Oh, I forgot, they're still together.
Brendon: That's adorable. That's so cute.
Melissa: That's so cute.
Brendon: That is the cutest thing I think I ever heard in my life.

Brain Ride
When coming back from the commercial break, we take a 'Brain Ride' through Paula's Dad's mind, a parody of the opening of 'Fight Club'.

Jason's poster:
There is a "Scabface" poster in Jason's room which is an obvious homage to the movie Scarface.
