This is not one of the best "Homicide: life on the street" episodes and at times is even rather boring. This is understandable though, as Felton, Howard and now Bolander are back in action and have to deal and adjust after the recent horrors they experienced.
One of the things i did really like in this episode is Bolander's return, reminding me of an old veteran sports hero coming out of retirement, with Munch (who can be seen as his coach) helping him out.
The message in this episode is that money may be able to buy alot, but in the end it cant be a substitute for love or happiness. When a wealthy elderly couple is murdered the grandson quickly becomes the suspect, this grandson had everything money could buy, but what he truly wanted and didn't have was the attention of his father, who was busy helping others out and often couldn't give his son enough attention
