  • Season 1 Episode 7: chapter.7

  • The name of the restaurant 'Matsunoya', printed on the discount card that was passed to Yamada by Mayama, is a pun at the name of a popular Japanese restaurant chain called 'Yoshinoya'.

  • Season 1 Episode 3: chapter. 3

  • In the Japanese version of the episode, when Hagumi called on the phone to asks the guys what they would like her to bring back, nozawana (a type of pickled turnip) or soba noodles, the guys asked for meat instead. Hagumi then informs Shuuji of what the boys wanted and Shuuji decides it will be soba noodles.
However in the English dubbed version, Hagumi only asked if the guys wanted her to bring back some soba noodles and that was all the guys said they wanted.
That part of the humour in the original version was therefore lost in the dubbed version.

  • Season 1 Episode 1: chapter. 1

  • The title "Honey and Clover" was taken from two of Chika Umino's favourite music albums: Hachimitsu by Splitz and Clover by Suga Shikao. Both songs are featured prominently in the series.

  • The opening sequence from episodes 1-13 was inspired by an artwork by Czech animator Jan Svankmajer. The work was one of many that the director Kenichi Kasai has been accused of 'stealing'.
