Hoppity Hooper, the cartoon frog from Foggy Bog, Wisconsin, was the creation of Jay Ward (of Rocky and His Friends fame). A similar-looking amphibian character originally debuted in an episode of "Fractured Fairy Tales," and the frog was later modified to headline a series when the re-packaged Bullwinkle Show (the NBC name of ABC's Rocky and His Friends) was cancelled in 1964. Each story arc of Hoppity Hooper consisted of four segments airing over two weeks, usually centered around the schemes of the greedy huckster Waldo Wigglesworth (a fox), his dim companion Fillmore (a bear), and the innocent but lovable frog Hoppity Hooper. The Adventures of Hoppity Hooper (later called The Uncle Waldo Show) was packaged with the same feature cartoons as other Jay Ward series and was later syndicated through the mid 1970s.
