Styles: (taking Hornblower's breakfast away uneaten, the morning of his wedding) So much for the condemned man eating a hearty breakfast, eh?
Matthews: Pity, that. Looks almost edible for once.
Hornblower: You probably think this is a bad time to get married?
Bush: Well, in my opinion, there's never a good time to get married.
Hornblower: You think I'm acting in haste?
Bush: You've acted in haste before, sir. It usually turns out for the best.
Pellew: You. You have my permission to sleep on shore. (on Hornblower's wedding night)
Hornblower: But, my duty is to the Hotspur, sir.
Pellew: Damn it man, the Hotspur will have you soon enough. Your wife will only have you for the night! You'll do as I say!
Hornblower: (smiling) Aye, aye, sir!
Mrs. Mason: (After Horatio cuts the wedding cake with his sword) I trust he's given that a thorough clean.
Admiral Pellew: Well, he'll have done his best, ma'am, but French blood, oooh, it's damnably sticky!
Doughty: We're giving him a beef in crust, with French Beans and Spanish Fritters.
Styles: French and Spanish, eh? Mr. Hornblower won't like that!
Doughty: They're vegetables, Styles, not navies!
Hornblower: Captain Bracegirdle has lost his ship and he's a carcass of a man. I'd rather die than share his fate!
Maria: Perhaps you might tell me some stories of your life at sea.
Hornblower: They're not "stories" Maria, and I do not wish to talk about it.
Maria: Then do not expect me to understand.
Doughty: Ah, shut up, Styles. It's bad enough you look like a Gypsy soothsayer, without babbling on like one.
The events in this movie are taken from the book "Hornblower and the Hotspur" by C.S. Forester
Received 2004 Emmy Nomination for "Outstanding Art Direction for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special"
Styles: A frog's different, they're as good as bloody Jonas!
He alludes to Jonas in the Bible, who admitted to being the cause of a storm, which ended immediately when he was thrown overboard.
