If alcohol was classified under the ABC drug system, it would be class A and illegal. Tobacco would be rated class B. In this episode, Horizon looks at some recent research on drug classification - a controversal new list which rates alcohol, solvents and tobacco (all unclassified drugs) as more dangerous than ecstasy, 4-MTA and LSD (all class A drugs). The scientists involved, including members of the government's top advisory committee on drug fication, think the current ABC system is arbitrary and not based on any scientific evidence.
