Alan Dale's Emmet Lawson character was a good addition to this episode, but the storyline with the fake Woody Allen is something ripped straight from one of Wendie Malick's previous shows, Just Shoot Me.
Still, a solid episode, but the show is lacking that originality it once had.
Melanie lies to Alec in order to hide his feelings for him, saying she's dating actor Emmett Lawson (Alan Dale), who stars with Victoria in the Woody Allen movie, while Victoria herself has trouble decoding Emmett's method acting personality. Meanwhile, Joy tries to fit in with the much younger college crowd, with which Elka isn't helping in the least.
