This episode just makes me want to rant at the english tradition of doing 8 episode series. Not nearly enough episodes to keep us satisfied and just enough to make the wait until the next series seem interminably long.

This episode showed us just what an excellent executive Charlie is. He managed to keep the staff sweet, even without knowing exactly what was going on.

Hated the ending with Rebecca leaving (even though I covet that white coat), and love that she put Charlie in for the top spot.

Charlie's interaction with the other staff when they find out they are being "let go" is awesome. He manages to be both sympathetic and yet approachable. I wish I worked for Charlie.

Roll on 2008 - and roll on english series making more than a handfull of episodes.moreless

    • Jackie: As the hotel gossip, if you don't know about something then generally it's not worth knowing about, right?
Anna: I think I can take that as a compliment.
Jackie: If it was me I wouldn't, but let's not get bogged down in semantics or questions of personal dignity right now.

    • Charlie: The last time I looked, you were all on the payroll. So please, roll back to your posts and earn your pay.
Tony: Don't like you like this.
      Charlie: Just doing me job.
      Tony: So was Eichmann.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Donovan Credo: (reading from report) "Your housekeeper runs her own lost property department like a latter day Fagin."

This is a reference to Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, wherein Fagin recruits and trains boys in the art of pickpocketing and other thieving talents. He is eventually captured and executed for his crimes.
