Going Undercover: Casa Verde and Triangle T
Gislef

So, on with the next week/two episodes of HI: Undercover. This set featured two of the more dramatic season 2 failures, in a season that seemed to be more about the personal issues of the owners than the problems with the hotels. As opposed to season 3, which featured really major disasters. First was Casa Verde. For th...

Going Undercover: Glacier Bear Lodge and Hotel Leger

So in an attempt to milk the highly-popular show (*ahem* I mean "show how dedicated Anthony is to his previous clients), Hotel Impossible has put together six half-hour undercover segments where Anthony visits his previous triumphs (??) and sees if the owners did what he told them to do.

Last year's "After Anthony" had everyone's favorite talkative Observer visiting six season 1 hotels in one hour. If nothing else, they learned that 10-minute segments were way too short to cover what had happened. Besides getting an extra two hours, the expanded time per hotel gives us a better picture of what happened.

Anthony is covering four Season 2 hotels, one Season 1, and one Season 3. He started off tonight with two of the Season 2s. First on his list was the Glacier Bear Lodge. The place was a not-so-glorified fishing lodge which was a bear-ridden dump on Anthony ...Read more

Operation Sandy 1 Review - "Check your clients"
I don't claim to be an expert on reality shows. I watch Hotel Impossible because I work in hotels and see the same crap going on there. I watch FaceOff. And... that's about it. I even watched Marcel's Quantum Kitchen *head nod of shame*

But... wow. First, nobody seems to have checked anything before taking on this job. First of all, they've got a limited budget: $10,000 per hotel as of this season. So why would they go into a hotel "blind" without knowing if it's going to take $10,000 more, The designers go in two weeks early, even if Anthony doesn't. So they should know.

Okay, so Anthony goes in and after touring the Hurricane Sandy destruction, he heads to the Thunderbird Hotel. He seems to be in over his head, even for him, since six floors on the first floor ...Read more

Going Undercover: Holbrooke Hotel and Ocean Manor

So we're back for the last two undercover episodes before the series returns for a new run on 1/27. So what have we got tonight? First Anthony visits a Season 3 hotel, the only one out of the six undercover episodes. The owner, Ian, was doing too much by himself and Anthony told him to find someone to handle some of the work.

As it turned out, not much changed. Ian was still handling a lot of things. The parking lot didn't have signs to let customers know it was hidden in the back. The banquet hall was still dirty, the rooms were still dirty, Dylan the kitchen chef was still overworked although he had managed to get the food prices down to 33% (hotels typically run 32%).

And... not much happened. Anthony came in, Ian either had reasons for everything that happened (he had just lost ...Read more

So what was up with the Thunderbird?

I'll be curious to see what if anything the Hotel Impossible producers say about the whole Thunderbird controversy. The hotel on their website has added the occasional attack on the show. The producer said they wouldn't give a statement until after the second part aired. So... it aired.

For those not tuning in tonight, Anthony went back twice to try to make amends. The first time he and his crew went back with some hired bodyguards, since Ray Sr. had made some threats in part 1. The father/owner offered to hire some "muscle" of his own and go after them. Ray Jr., the one who was humiliated on TV, continued to humiliate himself by... well, sulking, basically.

Then Anthony went back a second time, talked to Ray Sr. on his own, and offered him some designer cabinets that they had built. As a peace offering. Ray Sr ...Read more

Hotel Impossible is the Travel Channel reality series which follows the work of Anthony Melchiorri, a hotel "fixer". Anthony is highly sought after by struggling hotels, who hire him to quickly turn around their business. Whether its fierce competition from nearby hotels, a bad review online, or outdated and dingy accommodations, there's nothing Anthony and his no-nonsense approach can handle.
